CEGEP recruit to be reunited with best friend at Concordia (VIDEO)

CEGEP defensive back joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.

William Jouan-Ladouceur will be a Stinger next year.

Last week, the 6’0, 185 pound defensive back signed with the Concordia Stingers. He will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

Ultimately, there were a couple of main reasons why Jouan-Ladouceur opted for the Stingers.

“I committed there because I feel like it’s the place that felt most like home and also because of my best friend Yanic Lessard (Stingers wide receiver),” explained the defensive standout.  “There’s also the fact that Concordia University is a good school for me and I’ll be well surrounded.”

Despite taking a hiatus from the sport this past fall, Jouan-Ladouceur comes to the Stingers bolstered with a wealth of experience. Previously, he has suited up for CEGEP Division 2 team, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Geants.

During his time with the Geants, the defensive back helped the Geants win the Bol D’Or Championship in 2014 and was selected as a CEGEP Division 2 All-Star. In his final season with the team, Jouan-Ladouceur recorded two sacks, caught five interceptions, scored a touchdown and registered 18 tackles.

Additionally, he represented his home province as a member of Team Quebec at the 2012 Football Canada Cup in London, Ontario.  Team Quebec won a gold medal at the tournament. He has also helped Team Canada bring back a silver medal from the 2014 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) World Junior Championship as a member of the Junior National under-19 squad.
