CEGEP defensive back joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.
Antoine Mongeau is ecstatic about his future.
Recently, the 5’10, 185 pound defensive back from Laval, Quebec committed to McGill Redmen. Mongeau will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.
“I chose McGill because it was the best option for me as for football but also for the academics,” expressed Mongeau of his commitment. “To finish school with degree from McGill it’s just a plus.”
“Furthermore, Ron Hilaire and Olivier Létourneau were other great reasons for me to opt for this school. I have complete confidence in Ron and I am extremely excited to start working with him and Olivier.”
Moreover, the defensive standout likes the positive direction the Redmen are headed towards in the next few years.
“I think that the program can’t go in a better way right now,” elaborated Mongeau. “Ron has done everything he possibly can to bring this program to another level in order to win a championship.”
“Big things are coming for us and the best recruitment in the league can only help us to get better. My objective is nothing less but to win the most cups throughout my path as a Redmen.”
This past fall, Mongeau completed his career with CEGEP Division 1 team Vieux-Montreal Spartiates. In 2015, the defensive back registered 36 tackles including three for a loss, two picks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown.
Previous to the Spartiates, Mongeau suited up for RSEQ Juvenile Division 1’s Cure-Antoine-Labelle Wolves.
