CEGEP Week 9: Henderson shines, CNDF has offensive explosion & CFC TOP 100 running back unstoppable

Hugo Henderson was on a mission this past weekend.

The pivot had 156 completions in 22 attempts for 195 passing yards and three passing touchdowns as well as 156 rushing yards on 14 carries (an average of 11.1 yards per carry) and a rushing touchdown to lead Vieux-Montreal Spartiates to a 35-14 victory over Vanier Cheetahs in CEGEP Division 1 action.

Louis Mathieu Normandin, Marco Dubois and Benoit Gagnon-Brousseau each tallied majors for the Spartiates while Mike Brian Lusikila rushed for 124 yards.

CFC Top 100 Jean-Christophe Touchette led the Spartiates defense with 9.5 tackles (eight solo, three assisted).  Tresor Buama-Mafuta and Antoine Mongeau each recorded sacks while Allan Lambert and Laurent Rondeau caught interceptions.

With this win, the Spartiates still remain the best team in Division 1 and are tops in the Sud-Ouest Conference with an 8-1 record with one more week of regular season play left to go.

CFC TOP 100 players Bryce Vieira and Alexandre Savard each scored touchdowns for the Vanier in the game.  Defensively for the Cheetahs, Wade Cyr registered 8.5 tackles (six solo, five assisted) while CFC TOP 100 Jean-Gabriel Poulin and Lloyd Bureau each recorded sacks.

As a result of the loss, the Cheetahs slide to 6-3 on the season, but remain in second place in the Sud-Ouest conference.

Here are the other results from Week 9 CEGEP Division 1 action:

COLLEGE NOTRE DAME DE FOY (CNDF) 42, FX GARNEAU 19:

Three players scored two touchdowns as the College Notre Dame de Foy cruised past FX-Garneau  Elans 42-19.

Jean-Francois Ricard (105 rushing yards), Simon Laplante and Maxime Jean each tallied two majors in CDNF’s offensive explosion. Quarterback Felix Legault had 15 completions in 23 attempts for 186 passing yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Defensively for CDNF, Jean-Philippe Hudon registered seven solo tackles and recorded a sack.  Louis-Philippe St.Amant caught an interception and added a sack, Xavier Bilodeau recorded a sack and Jean-Sebastien Belisle caught an interception.

CNDF improves to 7-2 on the season and lead the Nord-Est Conference.  With the loss, the Elans drop to 4-5 and remain in third place in the conference.

For the Elans, Simon Gingras-Gagnon and Mathieu Bouchard scored touchdowns.  Anthony Bourdreault led the defense with 8.5 tackles (seven solo, three assisted).  Marc-Antoine Ouellet and Ludovick Petit recorded two sacks.

CHAMPLAIN-LENNOXVILLE COUGARS 50, LEVIS-LAUZON FAUCONS 24:

Cedric Joseph and Marc-Antoine Pivin each tallied two majors to lead Champlain Lennoxville Cougars to a 50-24 win over Levis-Lauzon Faucons.

Joseph had 169 rushing yards on 11 carries.  Yannick Lessard and CFC TOP 100 linebacker Jonathan Boissonneault-Glaou also scored touchdowns for the Cougars who improve to 6-3 in the Nord Est Conference.

CFC TOP 100 pivot Philippe Giguere has 21 completions in 27 attempts for 229 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception.

Defensively, Kevin McGee was in beast mode as he registered 12 solo tackles and caught an interception.  CFC TOP 100  Tomy Duperron added nine tackles (eight solo, two assisted).  Boissonneault-Glaou caught an interception and recorded a sack in the game while Adam Auclair added an interception.

As for the Faucons, Charles Morin, Alexandre Gagnon and Leo Lemieux-Girard each tallied majors. Anthony Breton-Robert led the defense with six solo tackles and caught an interception.  Marc-Antoine Claveau, Maxime Dionne, Charles Brousseau, Jean-Philippe Levesque,  Sebastien Landry-Girouard and Josef Sigier.

With the loss, the Faucons are 1-8 and in last place in the Nord Est Conference.

MONTMORENCY NOMADES 37, EDOUARD MONTPETIT LYNX 34:

CFC TOP 100 Gabriel Parent was unstoppable as he scored three touchdowns, amassed 170 rushing yards on 14 carries (average 13.8 yards per carry) and 70 receiving yards on two catches (average of 35 yards on two catches) in Montmorency Nomades 37-34 victory over Edouard-Montpetit Lynx.

Quarterback Benoit Lacasse had 15 completions in 22 attempts for 241 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and one interception in the win.  Christian Senechal and Kevin Felima also tallied majors for the 3-6 Nomades.

Charles Presseault and Samuel Rossi each chipped in with six tackles (four solo, six assisted) to lead the defense while Alexander Pinet-Watson recorded a sack.

As for the Lynx, Jean Guy Rempel ran into the end zone once and amassed 173 rushing yards.  Gabriel Nour-Samne tallied two majors  while Nicolas Champagne and CFC TOP 100 Regis Cibasu also scored for the 1-8 team.

Pivot Gabriel Archambault had 13 completions in 15 attempts for 157 passing yards, one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown.

Defensively, Alexandre Renaud led the way with 8.5 tackles (3 solo, 11 assisted).  Jeremy De villers Riel  caught an interception while Rossini Sandjong-Djabomé and Murphy-Merveil Boukaka-Santou each recorded sacks.
