CEGEP’s Edouard-Montpetit announces Melsbach as new Head Coach

CEGEP Division 1’s Edouard-Montpetit Lynx has announced that Nicholas Melsbach is the new head coach of the football team.

At the heart of this team for three years, Melsbach takes over from Marc Loranger who was recently named Bishop’s Gaiters Defensive Coordinator.

Arriving in 2012 as Defensive Coordinator, Melsbach participated in the organization and restructuring plan for the team with Loranger.

“I’ve known Nicholas a long time and we have worked together for several years,” said Loranger. Β “He will take over and lead the team that we have built to victory.”

A united and motivated team

The new head coach ensures continuity in an already united and motivated football team.

“Nicholas Melsbach is a recognized coach in the middle,” said Jasmin Roy, Director of Student and Community Affars for Edouard-Montpetit. “He is rigorous and dedicated towards his team.”

“He is the person who best knows our team and that will offer everyone the best student-athletes tools to stand out.”

Diverse experience

A former player of the Vieux-Montreal Spartiates, Melsbach was a position coach with the Montreal Carabins in 2010 and 2011. In college, he spent a season as Defensive Coordinator with CEGEP’s Β Montmorency Nomades joining the Lynx in December 2012. He also served for eight years, as the Defensive Coordinator of RSEQ Juvenile Division 1’s CurΓ©-Antoine-Labelle Wolves and worked with high school team Γ‰douard-Montpetit Β Bulldogs as Head Coach and led the program from Β 2011 to 2014.

Ready for new season

Players began in February their first practices with success. This positive climate has predicted a fine start for the 2016 season. Β The first official game of the 2016 season for the Lynx will be held on August 27th at home when they host Thetford Mines FIlons.
