Celebration of life for Torrance set for Monday, Jan. 30


A celebration of the life of Bob Torrance, the former Dinos quarterback, has been scheduled for the Red and White Club at McMahon Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30.

Friends and teammates of Bob Torrance will gather to pay tribute to the late quarterback, who died at the age of 43 on Jan. 10 in St. John’s, N.L. Torrance led the Dinos to the 1988 Vanier Cup championship and also won a Grey Cup with the Calgary Stampeders.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Dinos mourn Vanier Cup winner Torrance

On Monday, Jan. 30, at 3:30 in the afternoon, we will gather at the Red & White Club at McMahon Stadium to celebrate the life of one of Calgary’s admired citizens, Bob Torrance.

Son, brother, friend, husband, adoring father and musician as well as City, Vanier and Grey Cup Champion, Bob touched all our lives forever. Friends and family from all layers of community that Bob graced are invited to gather to remember our dear friend and his extraordinary life.

A program of speakers, music, and images will be led by Ken Newans and followed with an open mic, time to reconnect and opportunity to share your own memories and stories.

Friends of the family have set up a Trust Fund for Bob’s three young children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to this Trust Fund. More information will be provided once it has been established. Please arrive early so the celebration of Bob’s life may commence by 3:30.
