Huron Heights claimed their first York region championship since 2008 (the end of a 4-year run) on Saturday, defeating the 2-time champions from King City.  Cody Murrell scored the Warriors first touchdown of the game, nullifying a 7 to 0 lead by the Lions.  The Lions lost the services of their most dangerous threat, running back Marcus Arkarakas, in the third quarter when he was crumpled by a hit in the Warriors backfield by defensive back Jeff Lam on an incomplete pass.   Warriors coach Heath Weir commented “King City came out swinging and we managed to hang in there. It was two heavy-weights in the ring exchanging blows, we we’re lucky enough to be the team standing in the end.”

Huron Heights now faces the defending Metro bowl Champions. “Wilson is the defending Metro Bowl Champs. They’re only loss this season came against Holy Trinity the 2010 Metro Bowl Champions. They’re the favourite, they’re the team to beat,” said Weir of the next opponents.
