CFC CEGEP POWER RANKINGS (8) Week 9: Battle for first, who will be number 1

With the Thanksgiving break out of the way, play resumed at the Division 1 level with a battle for first place in the North East Conference. The Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars headed north to match wits with Notre Dame-de-Foy in a rematch of a week two 33-25 Notre Dame win. Five weeks ago the Cougars were on top of the world coming off a huge road win over Vieux Montréal. The defending champs looked to be the hottest team in D1 and seemed on a collision course with the top ranked Vanier Cheetahs. How quickly things change! The boys from Lennoxville are struggling to get back in the win column and after a heartbreaking loss to Vanier and a bit of a shocker against Garneau, the Cougars were hoping that the return of QB Mike Arruda would provide a much needed spark. It looked like the Cougars were going to get their wish, leading 14-8 into the 4th quarter, the undermanned Cougars who were without defensive stars CFC 100 Cédric Lussier-Roy and Samuel Brodrick and eventually succumbed losing 32-14.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
