CFC50 High School Players of the Week (1): Muganda, Viner-Cox, and Goodall named

For the first time ever, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) will be recognizing the top Canadian born high school players of the week.

This will be based off their individual and/or team performance using verified stats. The awards will include:

  • Offensive Player of the Week
  • Defensive Player of the Week
  • Lineman of the Week

The offensive and defensive players will be judged on their individuals stats while the linemen will be selected via a) stats for the defensive linemen and b) overall offensive team performance and number of total yards gained for offensive linemen. (We will include Special Teams players in honorable mentions should they gain our attention.)

Candidates must be attending and enrolled in a credited high school program. This will not include Cégep players, they will be identified in a separate, but similar, format on a weekly basis.

CFC High School Players of the Week (1)

School Team: Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard

CFC100 Muganda had a career night in a 36-3 win over CFC50 Saint-Jean-Eudes as he had 22 carries for 351 yards and 3 touchdowns. This kid will no doubt be one of the top running back prospects when he moves on from the Blizzard.

Defensive Player

Name: Tyson Viner-Cox
Ht/Wt: 6’4, 245lbs
Position: Linebacker
School Team: Garden City Fighting Gophers

In a 30-7 loss, CFC100 Viner-Cox was in on 11 solos, 1 QB sack, 1 fumble recovery, and also blocked a kick. Cox is an impressive athlete, hopefully his team can get into the win column as he continues to contribute outstanding performances.

Lineman

Name: Mathew Goodall
Ht/Wt: 6’8, 310lbs
Position: Offensive Guard/Nose Tackle
School Team: Huron Heights Warriors

Goodall was dominate in his team performance as the Warriors rushed for 403 yards on the ground to go along with 5 touchdown runs. He is one of the larger offensive linemen in the country who opens up gaping holes for his teammates. Look for this young man to have an outstanding senior year.

*If you have a player who you think we should recognize each week for their performance, please send us their full stat line each week by Tuesday to: [email protected].

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
