CFC50 High School Players of the Week (4): Uko, Wallace, and Uguak honoured

Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) will be recognizing the top Canadian born high school players of the week. If you have a player who you think we should recognize each week for their performance, please email us their full stat line each week by Tuesday to the CFC Scouting Bureau.

CFC High School Players of the Week (4)

Offensive Player

Name: CFC100 Samwel Uko
Position: Running Back
School Team: Abbotsford Panthers
Year: Senior

W 48-7 v. Pitt Meadows – Uko is gathering steam as his team pushes towards the playoffs. Uko was a human highlight versus the Marauders. He had 210 rushing on 15 carries with 3 rushing touchdowns and 1 touchdown reception. Uko wasn’t finished, however, as he returned two punts for 95 yards and his fifth total touchdown of the day. It’s easy to see why Uko is this week’s offensive player of the week.


Defensive Player

Name: Ryerson Wallace
Position: Linebacker
School Team: West Vancouver
Year: Senior

W 30-18 v. Rutland – “Never say die” was the tag line for the game that the West Vancouver Highlander, Ryerson Wallace, who took it to heart when he registered 20 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1 quarterback sack, and 1 forced fumble. We hadn’t heard about this kid until now, and we’ll be keeping on our eye on this future prospect.

Lineman

Name: CFC100 Lwal Uguak
Position: Defensive End
School Team: CFC50 Harry Ainlay Titans
Year: Senior

W 38-3 v. Salisbury – Uguak was a sack master as he registered 3 solo tackles and 3 quarterback sacks in three quarters of play. No wonder Uguak is garnering significant attention from NCAA schools and is already sitting on a few offers.

 

Criteria

This will be based off player’s individual and/or team performance using verified stats. The awards will include:

  • Offensive Player of the Week
  • Defensive Player of the Week
  • Lineman of the Week

The offensive and defensive players will be judged on their individuals stats while the linemen will be selected via a) stats for the defensive linemen and b) overall offensive team performance and number of total yards gained for offensive linemen. (We will include Special Teams players in honorable mentions should they gain our attention.)

Candidates must be attending and enrolled in an accredited high school program. This will not include Cégep players, they will be identified in a separate, but similar, format on a weekly basis.
