MONCTON PURPLE KNIGHTS VERSUS BERINCE MACNAUGHTON HIGHLANDERS (NBHSFL – QUARTERFINALS):

When it came to overall thoughts of the Moncton Purple Knights quarterfinal matchup against Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders, John Allanach had a simple answer.

“It’s David (Bernice MacNaughton) versus Goliath (Moncton),” replied the Purple Knights Head Coach.

Traditionally, the Highlanders have always had the Purple Knights number.  However, the Purple Knights have made significant strides in the past couple of years. Most recently, the Purple Knights won their first game of the 2014 NBHSFL season – earning a 35-0 shutout victory.

“Bernice MacNaughton High School ran the table for a decade on Moncton High School after losing the provincial final in 2002,” explained Allanach.  “Since 2012, Moncton High School has been back in the game against them.”

One thing the Purple Knights will need to do for success is to stop Highlanders running back Dylan Fyfe.

“They have a running back, Dylan Fyfe, who is getting better all the time,” added Allanach.

As for the Purple Knights counterattack, there are two key goals the team would like to accomplish against their opponents.

“We plan to throw the ball deep, deep and often to our tall receivers and shut down their ground attack,” described Allanach.

Ultimately, it will take a full team effort for the Purple Knights to be victorious on Friday.

“It is the playoffs so we will see if they can stay focused,” expressed Allanach.
