CFC Prospect Game: Bishop Tonnos WR Cuomo carrying on the family legacy of football excellence

Class of 2028 WR Malik Cuomo out of Bishop Tonnos in Hamilton, Ontario has already built the kind of football background that turns heads around Southern Ontario.

The Hamilton native started playing football around seven years old through flag football and quickly developed a love for the sport because of how open the game felt to every type of athlete. Whether a player was fast, physical, undersized, or bigger than everyone else, football always had a place for them.

That mindset helped shape Cuomo into one of the more intriguing young playmakers in the area. His football path has included stops with the U14 Hamilton Jr. Ticats, the U16 Jr. Argos, and now the U16 Jr. Ticats once again, while also competing at both Northern Secondary and Bishop Tonnos at the high school level. During his Grade 10 season, Cuomo posted more than 700 total yards and 11 touchdowns while earning Junior Football MVP honours at Bishop Tonnos.

Football has always been close to home for Cuomo. His father, Adam Cuomo, played at Toledo while his uncle, Mace Freeman, also played at Toledo before continuing professionally with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Growing up around those influences helped develop both his understanding of the game and the work ethic needed to succeed long term.

Heading into Hamilton Stadium for the CFC Prospect Game on TSN, Cuomo is focused on making himself stand out against elite competition while continuing to prove he belongs among the top Class of 2028 prospects in the country.
