Born in Brampton and raised in St. Thomas, Mavima grew up in a football household where the game was constantly part of everyday life. His father introduced him to football at a young age, and by Grade 6 he was already playing flag football with the London Junior Mustangs. What started as a fun way to compete quickly turned into something far more serious.
The Clarkson Football North defensive back describes becoming the best player possible as his ultimate goal, and that mentality showed itself this past season when he emerged as one of the breakout players in the Football North secondary. Mavima finished with six interceptions, including a pick-six, while also recording more than 20 pass breakups between Football North and the London Junior Mustangs during the 2025 season.
Those performances earned him OSFL Defensive Back All-Star recognition and another impressive accomplishment that says plenty about the type of season he had: most interceptions in Football North JV history.
When Mavima arrived at Football North, he entered camp as a relatively overlooked defensive back trying to earn reps in a loaded program. Coach Leroy Ackom saw something in him early and kept giving him opportunities. The more reps he received, the more confident he became. Eventually, the St. Thomas product worked his way into the starting boundary corner role and started matching up against opposing teamsβ top receivers every week. That trust changed everything for him.
Now he heads into the CFC Prospect Game on TSN carrying momentum, confidence, and a clear edge to his game. Mavima models his play style after Jalen Ramsey and embraces the swagger and competitiveness that come with playing cornerback at a high level. He also understands the work behind the scenes that got him to this point, especially after balancing football with a strong hockey background before ultimately choosing to focus fully on football after Grade 10.
Hamilton becomes the next opportunity to prove he belongs among the countryβs top prospects.
