Class of 2028 WR Josiah Thompson out of Clarkson Football North in Mississauga, Ontario has already lived a football story that feels different from most prospects his age. Born in Langley, British Columbia, raised primarily in Gatineau, Quebec, and shaped by a military family that moved frequently throughout his childhood, Thompsonβs path into football has never exactly followed a straight line.

Before football became his obsession, soccer was the centre of his athletic life. Thompson spent three years competing at a high level in Belgium, developing the kind of footwork, balance, and spatial awareness that now jumps out on film every time he touches the football. The transition to football did not happen until Grade 8, but once it did, everything changed quickly.
The former Gatineau Vikings standout carried momentum into Football North this past season, where he produced 510 receiving yards and five touchdowns while averaging 10.8 yards after the catch. The production backed up the growing attention around his name, and recruiting conversations are already beginning to build across both Canada and the United States for the 6’6″ receiver.
Thompson currently holds an offer from the UBC Thunderbirds while also drawing NCAA interest from programs including Georgia, Syracuse, Buffalo, Connecticut, and Long Island University.
Football also runs deep in the family. His brother Branden Thompson played at St. Francis Xavier University, while his father Martell Thompson suited up for both Saint Maryβs and Acadia. Another major influence has been CFL legend Eddie Brown, who has trained Thompson over the last two years and helped sharpen both his technical development and mindset.
Now the next challenge arrives at the CFC Prospect Game on TSN in Hamilton, where Thompson plans to make sure people remember his name long after the final whistle.
