CFC Prospect Game: Georgetown District DL Langford exchanged his skates for cleats and never looked back

Class of 2028 DL Oliver Langford out of Georgetown District High School in Georgetown, Ontario took an unconventional route into football compared to many prospects on the national stage.

Before football entered the picture, Langford spent nearly a decade playing rep hockey, building the toughness and competitive edge that would eventually translate naturally onto the defensive line. It was not until Grade 9 that a coach convinced him to give football a shot, but once he stepped onto the field, the physicality and intensity of trench play immediately pulled him in.

Since then, Langford has rapidly emerged as one of the more intriguing young defensive linemen in the Class of 2028. The young defensive lineman has competed for Georgetown District High School, the North Halton Tide U16 program, and the Oakville Titans U16 team while collecting second-team Varsity All-Star honours as a Grade 10 player, Defensive MVP recognition with the North Halton Tide, and the JV Lineman Award at Georgetown District High School.

The athletic testing numbers stand out immediately. Langford has already recorded a 4.88 40 yard dash while putting up 22 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press at just 15 years old, showcasing the combination of explosiveness and raw strength coaches covet along the defensive front.

Coming from a competitive sports family with a sister wrestling at McMaster and a father who played rugby at Trent, Langford has grown up around athletes who understand discipline and high-level competition.

Heading into the CFC Prospect Game on TSN in Hamilton, the Georgetown native is aiming to prove himself against the best players in the country while continuing to build momentum as one of Ontario’s rising defensive prospects.
