McLaren-Desir started playing football at eight years old, and from the moment a coach first handed him the football at practice, something clicked. He did not officially become a running back until his second season, but once he found the position, the results came quickly. The Montreal native turned into one of the most decorated young playmakers in his area, piling up Offensive MVP awards, all-star selections, and championship performances almost every season.
By 2025, the numbers were ridiculous. McLaren-Desir finished the season with 1,355 rushing yards, another 259 receiving yards, and 19 total touchdowns on 141 carries. That stat line backed up what people around Quebec football were already saying. He was becoming one of the toughest backs in the province to contain in open space.
The journey started with Sunnybrooke programs from 2017 through 2021 before moving to the North Shore Lions and eventually the North Shore Mustangs. Along the way, he captured four Offensive MVP awards, two Team MVP honours, three league all-star selections at running back, and four finals MVP awards.
His dream schools now are Penn State and the Montreal Carabins, two programs known for physical football and strong identity, which fits his style perfectly.
The biggest takeaway from the CFC Prospect Game tryout process was seeing how much talent exists across the country. Instead of becoming comfortable after making the roster, McLaren-Desir viewed the selection as confirmation that the work is only beginning.
Heading into Hamilton, the mindset is simple. Compete against the best and prove he belongs at the top of the conversation.
