Kickers live in a strange football universe. One swing can change an entire game, and everybody notices when something goes wrong. Roe embraces that pressure. He likes the responsibility that comes with it, and even though he started playing football because of the contact and physicality, he eventually found his lane as a specialist capable of impacting games in different ways.
There is also a unique football background surrounding him. Roe trains under legendary CFL kicker Hank Ilesic, one of the most respected special teams names in Canadian football history. Having that type of mentorship around him at a young age has already helped shape how he approaches the position, while his father has also played a major role helping him navigate opportunities and connections within the game.
The Collingwood native has already earned MVP honours at his high school along with First Team All-Star recognition in the SCAA, and now heads into the CFC Prospect Game on TSN with another chance to prove himself on a national stage.
