CFC Ranks: CJFL top 10 (4): “Beefs falter, top teams start to separate”

The top teams are beginning to separate themselves as the second half of the CJFL season begun.  The Colts continue to top the charts but the offense did not perform to the standards of head coach John Stevens.  The London Beefeaters lost for the first time, making the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) a wide open race.

1 [1]  Calgary Colts (4-0) PFC
Defeated Edmonton Huskies 32 to 9

Over 400 yards of offense and a strong defensive showing was all the Colts needed.

2 [2]  Langley Rams (4-0-1) BCFC
Defeated Kamloops Broncos 55 to 10

Nick Downey played a huge role in the victory.  He would return two punts for touchdowns, giving him 11 in his BCFC career.  The All-Time CJFL career record is 12, held by former Okanagan Sun James Green.  Downey also caught four balls for 70 yards to lead all receivers and recorded a touchdown.

3 [3]  Vancouver Island Raiders (4-0-1) BCFC
Defeated Chilliwack Huskers 85 to 0

Scored 21 points in first 2 minutes and 10 seconds of the game.  Jordan Yantaz finished day with four touchdowns, two passing, one receiving and one rushing.  It was 70 to 0 at half.

4 [4] Edmonton Wildcats (3-1) PFC
Defeated Winnipeg Rifles 42 to 30

Held off a late 4th quarter rally to up record to 3 and 1.  QB Jordon Olson threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns in 3 quarters of work.

5 [5]  Saskatoon Hilltops (3-1) PFC
Defeated Regina Thunder 24 to 9

Pulled away in second half to defeat provincial rival Thunder.  Matt Karpinka was an injury replacement and with 8:29 left in fourth quarter but game on ice with a touchdown pass to Kyle McGinnis.

6 [8] Westshore Rebels [4-1]
Defeated Okanagan Sun 27 to 24

Rebels quarterback Mark Black was 11 of 23 for 191 and threw a touchdown.

7 [9] Hamilton Hurricanes (4-1) OFC
Defeated Windsor AKO 47 to 8

Went up 32 to 1 by halftime.  QB Kyle Johnston threw for 290 yards and 5 touchdowns.  His favourite receivers still remain Anthony Pizzuti (4 catches for 51 yards and 2 touchdowns) and Daniel Parr (2 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown).

8 [6]  Regina Thunder (2-2) PFC
Lost to Saskatoon 24 to 9

Thunder defence forced four Saskatoon turnover in the first half but the offense could not capitalize.  Nick Brown has 102 yards rushing in the loss.

9 [7]  London Beefeaters (4-1) OFC
Lost to Ottawa Sooners 31 to 15

10 tie Windsor AKO Fratman (3-2); St. Leonard Cougars (3-2) OFC
