PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS (Last weeks record & overall – 4-2)

OVFL

Toronto Thunder @ Metro Toronto Wildcats
Sat Aug 6th, 4:30pm – Esther Shiner Stadium

What a match up. Rematch of a week 2 game that saw the Thunder squeak out a 1 point victory. Discipline & big plays are the key. Lots of great athletes on this field but who will make the most big plays and be the most disciplined? Chivon Gallagher and Jayde Rowe are the best one-two punch on the ground on any summer team. Wildcat front 7 has to come to play.
Thunder 28 Wildcats 24

Sault Ste Marie Sabercats @ Hamilton Ironmen

Sun Aug 7th, 1:00pm – Ron Joyce Stadium

Sault Ste Marie won the regular season game 39 to 12. They did the same thing last year but lost the playoff game. This year it is Sabercats who are on the road in the playoff match up. QB Casey Wright will be put to the test against a strong Ironmen defense that will make adjustments. The biggest question is how the Ironmen offense will perform.
Sabercats 23 Ironmen 17

Mississauga Warriors @ Essex Ravens
Sat Aug 6th, 7:00pm – Ravens Field

Another great match up and a rematch of an Essex last minute victory earlier in the year. The Ravens have played at a high level all year but the Warriors have been improving each week. If the Warriors can limit the Ravens running game and play disciplined (a challenge for them early in the year) they have a great chance at the big upset.
Essex 19 Warriors 18

Ottawa Cumberland Panthers @ Ottawa Myers Riders

Sat Aug 6th, 6:00pm – Minto Field

Defense wins championships. That is why both of these teams have a legitimate shot at an OVFL championship season. Myers RB Mike Leno and REC Mitch Spencer are the key to their attack. If Cumberland can limit these two and manufacture some points this could be another upset. Panther kicker Ryan Begin may be the difference maker.
Myers 18 Cumberland 13

OFC

Huronia Stallions Vs. Twin Cities Predators
Sat Aug 6th, 6:30PM – Beverley Community Center

The Predators won an unbelievable game (45-42) against the Burlington Stampeders and the Stallions also won by 3 points over Sudbury to get to the big game. Predators have to watch out for a ‘hang over’ from the big semi-final victory. Should be able to score more points then the Stallions are able to produce. Fracas to Beney…remember that phrase.
Predators 28 Stallions 17

JUNIOR VARSITY (U17)

1. (1) Ottawa Myers Riders (OVFL) – [8-0]
2. (2) Burlington Stampeders (OFC) – [10-0]
3. (3) Mississauga Warriors (OVFL) – [8-1]
4. (4) Toronto Thunder (OVFL) – [7-2]
5. (5) Hamilton Ironmen (OVFL) – [7-1]
6. (7) Cambridge Lions (OVFL) – [6-2]
7. (8) Essex Ravens (OVFL) – [7-2]
8. (7) Niagara Spears (OVFL) – [5-4]
9. (9) Cumberland Panthers (OVFL) – [6-3]
10. (HM) Pickering Dolphins (OVFL) – [4-4]

Honourable Mention:
Oshawa Hawkeyes (OVFL), Twin Cities Predators (OFC), Brampton Bulldogs (OVFL), Huronia Stallions (OFC)

PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS (Last weeks record & overall – 4-2)

OVFL

Essex Ravens @ Cambridge Lions
Sat Aug 6th, 8:00pm – Jacob Hespeler

Cambridge won a week one game 25 to 3. The Ravens have improved immensely since the early season and the offense is not the same offense that faced the Lions. Ravens RB Eli Fera is the top back in the OVFL JV league but the Lions may have the front seven to contain him with the likes of Drew Walden and Zack Sauer. Lions QB Austin Gordon has to find Adam Mueller early and often.
Lions 23 Ravens 19

Mississauga Warriors @ Hamilton Ironmen
Sun Aug 7th, 4:00pm – Ron Joyce Stadium

This is a rematch of one of the best games of the summer. In that game Hamilton came back from a big deficit to pull out a last minute victory. Ironmen QB Kyle Van Wynsberghe will have to show the same poise he did in that game. The Warriors have to shore up their defensive secondary, a big reason for their regular season loss. Receiver / returner Trea Ivey gave Hamilton fits all day in the return game. Looking forward to this one.
Warriors 42 Ironmen 39

Ottawa Cumberland Panthers @ Ottawa Myers Riders
Sat Aug 6th, 3:00pm – Minto Field

Can anyone stop the Myers JV team? Even with the pressure of a cross-town rivalry match up? We are going to say no. QB Michael Arruda has been the catalyst for the offense with his arm and legs….22 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Not too bad, pretty good.
Riders 38 Panthers 13

Toronto Thunder @ Pickering Dolphins
Sat Aug 6th, 2:00pm – Kinsmen Park

The Thunder won the regular season battle 26 to 7. Thunder receiver Dejaun Martin led the OVFL JV league with just over 100 yards per game (828) and 6 touchdowns. Not sure the the Dolphins have the fire power to compete with the athletic Thunder squad.
Thunder 26 Dolphins 12

OFC

Huronia Stallions Vs. Burlington Stampeders
Sat Aug 6th, 3:30PM – Beverley Community Center

Stampeder running back Jon Howard is the best in the OFC and maybe Ontario. The offense averaged over 53 points per game during the regular season. These teams played twice during the regular season with the Stampeders winning both, the first by 66 to 6 and the second by 38 to 13. The Stampeders will win the OFC JV championship this season
Stampeders 37 Stallions 18

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
