CFC TOP 100 Touchette chooses the Carabins

MontrealCFC TOP 100 linebacker Jean-Christophe Touchette has chosen to continue his career with the Montreal Carabins.

Touchette spent the past three seasons with the Vieux-Montreal Spartiates where he was selected as a CEGEP Division 1 All-Star the last two seasons.

The young Montrealer arrives on familiar ground. His father served as Carabins Defensive Coordinator (2006-2011). Touchette followed the Carabins since his debut in football during high school.

“I have always been close to the team,” said Touchette a 6’3 giant. “One can almost say that I grew up at CEPSUM.”

“I saw the evolution Hamid Mahmoudi and Joash Gesse (players drafted in the Canadian Football League). I want to help Carabins to win.”

Touchette, a two time Bol D’Or champion with RSEQ Juvenile Division 1 team Notre-Dame Cactus, said that he did not feel any pressure to sign with the Carabins.

“I was always been encouraged to make my own decisions and to assume,” he said. I’ll find teammates here and I’ll be able to work with a good linebackers coach in Paul-Eddy Saint-Vilien, who I’ve known for a long time.”

“It is rare to see a player coming out of college and could have an immediate impact on the team, said Carabins Head Coach Danny Maciocia. This is a player who covers a lot of ground and has a good vision of the game and I am sure he will enjoy a great career at University of Montreal.”

Touchette will enter the University of Montreal this fall to study social service. His new teammates will continue preparations for the start of training camp this August.
