The Spartiates did have their hands full trying to stop the Phénix who were well prepared and proving it on the first play of the game with a fumble recovery for a major. The special teams made a big difference and kicker Bradley James Santos added 12 points to his statistics and earning three of those points on a kick-off that split the up-rights. The Grasset Offence worked the Spartiates defence in both aspects of the game and receiver #8 François Rocheleau scored 2 touchdowns. Vieux-Montréal’s offence struggled to generate momentum and leaving the defence on the field too long. The Phénix defence intercepted twice and played as a whole to enable a statement win of 40-3.
The Cougars highly skilled offence, including #CFC100 OT Patrick Davis, had a great day with a total of 522 total yards. The running game, with 285 yards and 4 td’s, was led by #6 RB Thomas Bertrand-Hudon with 21 carries for 144 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Oboo Uunda helped both the running game with 3 carries for 38 yards with a major and caught 7 passes for 76 yards. The defence did not have a perfect outing enabling the Nomades to score 32 points. #24, DB Sean Côté, had a pick six to help the Cougars reach their total score of 49. The Nomades offence did generate some numbers with QB Zachary Cloutier throwing 59 and completing 32 for 353 yards, 3 touchdowns. While the defence had 2 interceptions and 1 for a major by DB Frédérick Antoine, but the Cougars rushing game was too powerful, tiring the troop of rookie coach Frédéric Morissette for their second loss.
Only two touchdowns in the highlight game of the weekend. The Vanier offence led by QB Dimitrios Sinodinos, who threw for 272 yards in 22 out of 38, and a passing TD to receiver Samuel Emilus for the only touchdown for the Cheetahs. And Vanier RB Patrick Charles who cumulated a total of 153 total yards on offence, which 107 of those yards came from 20 carries, Le Notre-Dame’s defence was fortunate to intercept 2 passes that put Vanier behind in the turnover ratio, and in these close games, turnovers are crucial. Le Notre-Dame’s offence did have a rough day with only 381 total yards. The passer, QB David Pelletier, had a good day completing 23 out of 42 for 288 yards and their only major to Rec Patrick Serré. The numbers for Vincent Forbes-Mombleau keep piling up with another 9 catches for 145 yards. The Vanier defence anchored by #CFC100 LB Kean Harelimana, 9 total tackles, 2 for loss and a sack, limited the Notre-Dame leading rusher, RB Luca Perrier, to a mere 42 yards and did provoke chaos on the opposing sideline. Teaming-up with Harelimana, #21 Darren Kyeremeh with 9 total tackles, #5 Kaykyn St-Cyr with 6 total tackles and a pick, #29 #CFC100 Tyris Lebeau with 4,5 total tackles and a pick, and the rest of the Vanier defenders kept Le Notre-Dame to one major and kept their team in a close battle against the number 1 team. The hero of the game, the Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy kicker, #19 David Côté who succeeded on all three field-goal attempts to win the game 16-10.
