#CFC10 ONTARIO SUMMER RANKINGS – JV (4): Major shuffling of the deck & new #1!

****PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION TO HONOURABLE MENTION****

I am sure there are many that feel it is unjust for Hamilton to drop out of the top ten even though they are 3-0 and continue to win. The Hurricanes do look like one of the OFC’s elite teams but I am not convinced that they are worthy of their preseason número uno ranking.

On the OVFL side of the ledger, I do believe when it’s all said and done the Cumberland Panthers will finish in the #CFC10. If this was a “power” rankings I would still have the Panthers ranked amongst the province’s elite, however it is a top 10 and with the 21-0 loss to the Toronto Thunder, the Panthers fall out of the #CFC10 for the first time since 2012.

Without wasting anymore time, here is this week’s Junior Varsity #CFC10.

JUNIOR VARSITY (UNDER 17) TOP TEN RANKINGS – WEEK 4 (previous week’s ranking in parenthesis)

1) CAMBRIDGE LIONS (2) 3-0 OVFL (won 31-7 vs. Hamilton Ironmen) The Lions improve to 3-0 and take over top spot with a relatively easy 31-7 win against the Hamilton Ironmen. Defensively linebacker Jack Hinsperger continues to dominate recording 10 total tackles (7 solo, 6 assists) in the win.  Next up: vs. bye

2) BURLINGTON STAMPEDERS (3) 2-0 OFC  (bye) Burlington lis looking to reclaim the title they relinquished in 2014 and so far they look dominate. Outscoring opponents 88-7 in two games, the Stamps look to be the early elite in the OFC.

3) LONDON JUNIOR MUSTANGS (6) 3-0 OVFL (won 41-13 vs. Essex) The defending OVFL champs have looked very good as they climb three spots to crack the top 5. The ‘Stangs are one of Ontario’s most proficient rushing teams and what makes them so scary is there depth. Chase Brown is second in the OVFL with 420 yards on the ground while Tazie Vang Bell ranks fourth with 376 yards in three games.  Next up: #7 Niagara

4) OTTAWA MYERS RIDERS (4) 3-0 OVFL (won 43-28 vs. York Simcoe) Insane stat of the week…OPC participant J.P. Cimankinda has 823 yards rushing in only three games. Amazing!  Next up: bye

5) HAMILTON HURRICANES (1) 3-0 OFC (won 9-0 vs. Brantford) I am sure many in “Steeltown” are crying foul. After spending the first three weeks atop the polls, the ‘Canes drop to fifth spot despite remaining unbeaten. Next up: bye

6) PETERBOROUGH WOLVERINES (5) 3-0 OFC (won 34-0 vs. Huronia) The Wolverines will be looking for a measure of revenge as they take on the Clarington Knights, the team that knocked them off in the OFC semifinals. The Knights are not the same team and it won’t be close.  Next up: Clarington

7) NIAGARA SPEARS (9) 2-0 OVFL (won 31-14 vs. Brampton) Big test coming up as the Spears face red hot London, in what is easily the OVFL game of the week. Next up: vs. #3 London

8) NORTH HALTON CRIMSON TIDE (NR) 3-0 OFC (won 72-8 vs. Clarington) The Crimson Tide roll into the top 10 this week, debuted at number 8. Next up: Huronia

9) GUELPH JR GRYPHONS (8) 2-1 OFC (won 9-0 vs. Chatham Kent) Big game in week four against a strong Predators team. Next up: Twin Cities

10) TORONTO THUNDER (10) 2-1 OVFL (won 21-0 vs. Cumberland) Next up: Halton

***Honourable Mention***  Cumberland Panthers (OVFL), Twin-Cities (OFC)
