#CFC10 SUMMER RANKINGS – VARSITY (2): Major shakeup!

*****UPDATED MAY 28 TO REFLECT SSM WIN*****

Last week, we mentioned there is never any rest or warm-up to the OVFL and OFC seasons. Right from the get go, you have top contenders battling in an effort to establish good early season positioning. Week 1 was no different as everyone was gearing up for the ride that would be the 2015 season. No doubt a lot of eyes would be on Ottawa Myers Riders and Hamilton Hurricanes as both have multi-year win streaks happening….both still do.

There was plenty of movement in the Varsity top 10, as the Mississauga Warriors and Toronto Thunder drop out while the London Jr Mustangs and Cumberland Panthers debut. It should be a great season!

VARSITY (UNDER 20) TOP TEN RANKINGS – WEEK 1

1) HAMILTON HURRICANES OFC

2) NIAGARA SPEARS OVFL (1-0) (won 22-15 vs. Essex) For a second year in a row, the Spears enter the season ranked in the top ten, but ranked lower than the Essex Ravens. For a second year in a row, they show the rankings to be wrong.

3) MYERS RIDERS OVFL (1-0) (won 49-28 vs. Toronto) Myers puts up 49 points but allowed 28…hmmm

4) SAULT STE. MARIE SABERCATS OVFL (1-0) (won 27-8 vs. Hamilton) Big road win and defense shines as expected.

5) BRANTFORD BISONS

6) HURONIA STALLIONS OFC

7) CAMBRIDGE LIONS OVFL (1-0) (won 39-0 vs, Brampton)  Year one after Roberts…so far so good.

David Aiken 1

8) LONDON  OVFL (1-0) (won 40-29 vs. Mississauga) Jr. Stangs back in top 10

9) ESSEX RAVENS OVFL (0-1) (lost 22-15 vs. Niagara) Essex went to the finals after an opening game loss to Niagara…I’m sure that’s what the coaches are telling them after a 22-15 loss to those pesky Spears.Ravens drop to #8.

10) CUMBERLAND PANTHERS (1-0)  (won 49-0 vs. Cornwall) Panthers crack the top ten for the first time in three years.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
