CEGEP DE gets two NCAA Division 2 offers in short span

It’s been an exciting month of October for #CFC100 Isaac Berglund.

The 6’2, 227 pound defensive end from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia received two NCAA offers in a short span of time.

Berglund’s first offer came from NCAA Division 2 team’ Simon Fraser Clan earlier in the month.  Last night, he announced on twitter that another Division 2 program, West Virginia State Yellow Jackets:

 

Overall, the defensive standout is thrilled about the pair of offers.

“My reaction to receiving these offers was completely grateful and appreciative; I am very fortunate to be in this position,” commented Berglund.

In both cases, the defensive end was surprised but fortunate that both programs expressed this sort of interest in him.

“While on the phone with the coaches, I was lost for words for a few moments,” recalled Berglund.  “It is an unbelievable feeling to know that coaches are willing to invest that sort of time and money into you as a player and as a person.”

Currently, the defensive standout is completing his final season with CEGEP Division 1’s Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars.

Previous to the Cougars, Berglund suited up for the Dartmouth High Spartans of the Nova Scotia Student Athletic Federation Football League (NSSAFFL).  During his time with the Spartans, he was selected as a NSSAFFL Nova Division First-team All-Star at both the linebacker and defensive line positions. Additionally, he was named Spartans Defensive Player of the Year and MVP.

For the second consecutive time, Berglund was included on the #CFC100 CLASS2016 RANKINGS.

As for deciding on his future, Berglund is expected to announce something in early 2016.

“For me, I believe I would be in a position to make a decision in January after my season is finished and I am completely focused on the next chapter in my life,” elaborated Berglund about the decision timetable.

For the moment, it is all about savouring the moment that goals have been achieved as evidenced by these offers.  The validation these offers have given to Berglund has fueled the motivation to aim even higher.

“All I can say is I am thankful for the opportunity these universities have blessed me with,” expressed Berglund.  “These offers mean that a lot of hard work has paid off.”
