It’s been a wild summer for CFC100 Class of 2023 DE Armel Ngueyam Mukam, who announced he’s decommitted from Stanford to pledge his allegiance to Notre Dame.

NCAA COMMITS

The 6’4″, 250lbs prospect began his football career in La Prairie, QC where he played for Ecole Secondaire La Magdeleine. He decided in March of last year he’d forego the CEGEP route and instead be crossing the border to attend Woodberry Forest Academy in Virginia to complete his high school eligibility. Woodberry is a common landing place for Canadian prospects including CFC100 Class of 2017 DL Luiji Vilain, who attended Michigan and Wake Forest during his NCAA tenure before getting drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2021 CFL Draft, and then ultimately signing with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent earlier this year.

The 3rd ranked prospect on the CFC100 Class of 2023 saw his recruiting journey really took off once he arrived in Virginia racking up over 20 DI offers including Power 5 programs like Stanford, Cal, North Carolina, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Duke, and Wake Forest. Mukam was quick to pull the trigger on his commitment to Stanford after receiving an offer in June, but couldn’t pass up the offer to attend prestigious Notre Dame when they came knocking on the door soon after.

CFC100 CLASS OF 2023 RANKINGS

The Irish are developing a pipeline up north with the commitment of fellow CFC100 Class of 2023 DL Devan Houstan, who announced his decision in May. They also became one of Canada’s favourite programs with the signing CFC100 Class of 2016 WR Chase Claypool, who now stars for the Pittsburgh Steelers after being selected 49th overall at the 2020 NFL Draft.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
