Offers are slowly, but surely turning into commitments – and we’ve got another CFC100 who’s found a home in U Sports. We caught up with CFC100 Matthew Peterson out of Brooks Composite to learn more about his recent commitment.

“Not only would it help me be where I want to be, but give me the chance to help the team win championships.”

CFC100/CFC60 Recruiting Stories

Home is where the heart is for Matthew Peterson, and he’s decided he’ll stick around for his U Sports career with the announcement of his commitment to the Alberta Golden Bears. The Class of 2019 star currently plays for Brooks Composite High School, which often gets lost among the Calgary and Edmonton teams, but Peterson has had no issues making a name for himself as one of the top tailbacks in the province.

At 5’9″, 200lbs, he has a unique combo of size and speed you won’t find very often at the high school level, and he could turn into another gem for the Golden Bears who’ve had a few gamebreakers come through the program in recent years. Peterson says everything felt right when he first laid eyes on the Golden Bears’ campus,

“When I took my first steps at the U of A I felt like it was the right place for me. Not only would it help me be where I want to be, but give me the chance to help the team win championships.”

Alberta currently has four other CFC100 offers on the board for Jake Taylor, Jaxon Hume, Tanner Shaw and Ramsey Derbas.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
