There was a massive crowd on hand last week at CFC50 Holy Names H.S in Windsor, Ontario, where Class of 2020 CFC100 top ranked prospect Theo Johnson announced his commitment to Penn State. Now Happy Valley can rest easy knowing they’ve officially secured his signature on Early Signing Day.

The 6’6″, 230lbs receiver/tight end prospect was originally a member of the CFC100 Class of 2019, but decided to reclassify for another season at Holy Names, turning him into the top ranked prospect on the CFC100 Class of 2020.
Johnson helped the Knights claim back-to-back Windsor city championships in 2017-2018, capped off with a pair of OFSAA Bowl victories against CFC50 London South, and CFC50 Huron Heights. He was eventually named First Team CFC All-Canadian in 2018, and racked up 29 DI offers on the board before narrowing the list down to Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Iowa and Miami.

In the end, the Canadian pipeline to Penn State prevailed yet again with Johnson joining CFC60 receiver Malick Meiga out of Vieux Montreal, who announced his commitment to Happy Valley during the summer. The pair should feel right at home alongside fellow Canadians CFC100s Jonathan Sutherland, Daniel Joseph, and Jesse Luketa on campus.
Scout’s View
“Johnson’s film showed that he is a physical specimen who lined up all over the field and made plays on the outside where he shows that he has a little bit of shake and speed. He also demonstrated he can work in the slot. On top of that there were a couple of clips where he lines up as a tight end. In all of his clips he shows that he has an outstanding set of hands and catches the ball naturally. He also showed that, regardless of where he lines up, he is a mismatch player who will go up and get the ball. The last thing that really stuck out to me was how at 6’6″, 230+lbs, this young man can shake defenders as well as outrun them.”
