CFC Events
No. 1 Holy Trinity Academy Knights (8-0) – The Knights didn’t play this past weekend, but that’s a good thing because they are set to meet the CFC25 No. 19 Cardston Cougars fro the regional semifinal in Alberta South. The Cougars are going in this with momentum after their 45-0 victory over Medicine Hat. Both teams are undefeated at 8-0, this week one is going home. Toss the coin, it’s anyone’s guess.
No. 2 Sém. Saint-Joseph Vert et Or (8-0) – The Vert et Or remain the only undefeated team in D1b in Quebec. They also earned the playoff bye this past weekend and will now face CFC25 No. 23 College de Levis (5-4). In the regular season, de Levis only lost to Saint-Joseph 26-23. Playoffs bring about a whole different energy. Will the Commanders unseat the top Quebec team in the CFC25?

No. 3 Vernon Panthers (5-0, 2-0) – The Panthers walked away with a 14-0 win over Clarence Fulton this past weekend to earn themselves a first round playoff bye this week.
No. 4 Portage Collegiate Trojans (7-0) – Portage was holding anything back in their quarterfinal against Crocus Plains with a 53-0 trouncing. They will now face Garden City (4-3) in the semifinals. We are pretty confident that the Trojans got this one.

No. 5 Bishop James Mahoney Saints (7-0, 0-1) – Look who’s back in the top 5. The Saints beat Greenall 14-2 for the region finals. From our sources, this was a very close defensive battle. The Saints made grabbed an interception at the end of the 1st half which they ran back for 69 yards to take the lead into the half, 7-0. The second half didn’t go in the favor of Greenall as they had a blown coverage that the Saints capitalized on and took it to the house. Greenall’s only points would be a safety. Penalties were heavy on the Griffins side of the ball which didn’t help the matter. The Saints will now go on to play the Yorkton Raider Gridders for the 5a provincial championship.

Who’s getting ranked?
For the first time, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national ‘Small School’ high school football rankings known as the CFC25.
The CFC25 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are classified as non-conference games) and forfeit* wins are not considered towards overall record.
How is the CFC25 evaluated?
Leagues/teams included in rankings:
- British Columbia: AA Varsity
- Alberta: Tier 2-4
- Saskatchewan: 12-man 3A rural, Saskatoon – 5A, Regina – Stewart
- Manitoba: Division 2 and 3 Varsity
- Ontario: NSSAA – Haldimand-Norfolk, BAA – Bluewater, COSSAA – Kawartha, COSSAA – Bay of Quinte, LRFL – Lanark-Renfrew, LGSSAA – Brockville, EOFC – Cornwall
- Quebec: Juvenile Division 1b
- New Brunswick: 12-man D2E and D2W
- Nova Scotia: Div. 2 Nova – Sydney Academy, Horton, Millwood, Avon View, Cole Harbour. Scotia – Sackville, Park View, J.L. Ilsley, Central Kings, West Kings (***NS league was re-aligned Oct. 1, 2019. These are now the Division 2 teams and will take into affect for week 7 ranking)
The CFC25 is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers small school leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie. CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.
The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The CFC25 is released every Tuesday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.
