No. 1 Holy Trinity Academy Knights (4-0) – Apparently the crowd did not disappoint for the annual Blackout game between the Knights and the Foothills Comp. Falcons. Leading 17-0 at the half, the Knights didn’t let up and ended up with a 38-13 victory. They will now head into a bye week.

No. 2 Bishop J. Mahoney Saints (2-0, 0-1) – With a 25-7 win over the CFC25 No. 19 Marion Graham Falcons, the Saints remain undefeated for the regular season. They will match up against Tommy Douglas this weekend who are 1-2.

No. 3 CollΓ¨ge Bourget Voltigeurs (3-0) – The Voltigeurs walked away with the win this past weekend, 22-14 against CFC25 No. 20 CollΓ¨ge Laval. From what we understand, both these teams are vying for top spot in Quebec. This exchange will no doubt continue to inspire the Voltigeurs as they get ready to play AcadΓ©mie les Estacades this next weekend, but the real test is not this week but next week when they play the CFC25 No. 7 SΓ©minaire Saint-Joseph Vert et Or (3-0).

No. 4 Vernon Panthers (2-0) – Coming off a bye, the Panthers are probably itching to get back on the field and continue their quest back to the AA Subway Bowl finals in British Columbia. They face Clarence Fulton this weekend, we are pretty sure the Panthers will come out on top of that one.

No. 5 Cochrane Cobras (3-0, 0-1) – This was tough game for the Cobras and one that they courageously took on. With a 24-7 loss to the CFC50 No. 20 Raymond Comets, this non-conference matchup can only be used as a learning opportunity and one that we are sure the Cobras will use to the full extent. There were a couple bad breaks in that game that lead to the loss, but they will put that behind them and get ready for their next opponent – undefeated T2 Springbank (3-0).

Who’s getting ranked?

For the first time, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national ‘Small School’ high school football rankings known as the CFC25.

The CFC25 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are classified as non-conference games) and forfeit* wins are not considered towards overall record.

How is theΒ CFC25Β evaluated?

Leagues/teams included in rankings:

  • British Columbia: AA Varsity
  • Alberta: Tier 2-4
  • Saskatchewan: 12-man 3A rural, SaskatoonΒ  – 5A, Regina – Stewart
  • Manitoba: Division 2 and 3 Varsity
  • Ontario: NSSAA – Haldimand-Norfolk, BAA – Bluewater, COSSAA – Kawartha, COSSAA – Bay of Quinte, LRFL – Lanark-Refrew, LGSSAA – Brockville, EOFC – Cornwall
  • Quebec: Juvenile Division 1b
  • New Brunswick: 12-man D2E and D2W
  • Nova Scotia: Parkview, Millwood, West Kings, Central Kings, Halifax West, Horton, JL Isley, Sydney Academy, Avon View

The CFC25 is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers small school leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie. CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.

The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The CFC25 is released every Tuesday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.
