CFC50 2019 High School RANKINGS (10): Losses in BC, AB shift rankings, 1 new team gets ranked

No. 1 St. Thomas More Knights (8-0, 1-0) – STM is that much closer to remaining the CFC50 No. 1 team for another consecutive season. With a 60-7 no contest win over Cathedral for the league semifinal, they have one more contest to go before the OFSAA Bowl. CFC50 No. 20 Cardinal Newman will get the pleasure of going toe-to-toe with the Knights this week for the league final.

No. 2 St. Francis Browns (5-0, 2-0) – After a nice break, the Browns start their playoff run in Calgary as they face William Aberhart this week.

No. 3 Catholic Central Crusaders (6-0, 1-1) – The Crusaders beat Holy Cross, 38-3 to get into the semifinal round. They will play St. Joseph’s this week.

No. 4 LeBoldus Golden Suns (8-0) – The Golden Suns are the Regina Champions after they beat CFC50 No. 25 Riffel. They will go on to play Holy Cross for the Provincial final.

No. 5 Saint-Jean-Eudes Condors (9-0) – The Condors will be well rested when they play College Notre-Dame in the semifinals this week. We know what happened last year to the Condors so we are sure that they will make sure that doesn’t happen again.

Who’s getting ranked?

For the tenth year in a row, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national high school football rankings known as the CFC50.

The CFC50 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are classified as non-conference games) and forfeit* wins are not considered towards overall record.

How is the CFC50 evaluated?

Leagues included in rankings: British Columbia AAA Varsity, Alberta Tier One, Saskatchewan 12-man rural / 6A / Schwann, Manitoba AAA Varsity, Ontario OFSAA Bowl AAA qualified teams, Quebec Juvenile Division 1, New Brunswick 12-man, Nova Scotia (all teams excluding CFC25 eligible teams).

The CFC50 is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers top tier leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie. CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.

The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The CFC50 is released every Monday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.
