CFC50 2021 High School RANKINGS (WEEK 1): Quebec, Saskatchewan and Alberta provide early season drama

The CFC50 High School Rankings are officially back!

There’s still plenty of programs waiting to kickoff their season, but we’ve already had a ton of drama in Quebec, Saskatchewan and Alberta to help shake up the rankings.

The biggest shock thus far is in Quebec where Armand-Corbeil is off to a stellar 2-0 start, including a massive victory over former top ten program Seminaire-Saint-Francois. Meanwhile in Alberta, Lethridge C.I. defeated powerhouse St. Francis out of Calgary in non-conference action. Then lastly in Saskatchewan, we saw another early upset with the Miller Marauders knocking off the 2019 provincial champions from LeBoldus.

Stay tuned for more action next week as Manitoba and New Brunswick begin their journey to CFC50 glory.

Who’s getting ranked?

For the tenth year in a row, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national high school football rankings known as theĀ CFC50.

The CFC50 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are classified as non-conference games) and forfeit* wins are not considered towards overall record.

How is theĀ CFC50Ā evaluated?

Leagues included in rankings: British Columbia AAA Varsity, Alberta Tier One, Saskatchewan 12-man rural / 6A / Schwann, Manitoba AAA Varsity, Ontario OFSAA Bowl AAA qualified teams, Quebec Juvenile Division 1, New Brunswick 12-man, Nova Scotia (all teams excluding CFC25 eligible teams).

TheĀ CFC50Ā is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers top tier leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie.Ā CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.

The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The CFC50 is released every Monday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.
