Ernest Manning Griffins vs. Bishop OβByrne Bobcats
Thursday, Oct. 26 @ 4:30pm., Ernest Manning High School (Calgary)
The CFC50 Ernest Manning Griffins (3-2) will be taking on the Bishop OβByrne Bobcats (3-2) within the Calgary Division 1 league; a pond with swarming sharks hunting for blood.
The Bishop OβByrne Bobcats endured a beating from the #1 team the St. Francis Browns last week, 53-0. Earlier in the season, the Ernest Manning Griffins received a familiar shutout, 42-0.
Notre Dame Pride (4-1) have also separated themselves by the pack only losing to Browns by 4 points in a very anticipated game held in Calgary’s own Mosaic Stadium, home to the Calgary Stampeders.
There is no question the St. Francis Browns are continuing to crush any opponent in their path which means they satisfy their remaining spot of top. This means the race for the potential third and fourth spots in Provincials out of Division I is anyoneβs game, states Football Alberta.
As Henry Wise Wood continues to be a threat despite a bumpy season, the four other teams in the league have been solid and resilient. It is very much up in the air who will beat who and where each team will land once the regular season is over.
Ernest Manningβs Head Coach Jovan Vujinovic has his eyes set on the Bobcatβs defensive line which he claims has been their anchor the entire season.
When it comes to the result of this match-up, Coach Vujinovic is not worried about his team. He has full confidence his boys will play their best game and that no matter the score, their βTeam Firstβ mantra is always in effect through wins and loses.
βOur players have been working hard all week getting ready for this one so we are very excited to host on our own artificial turf field,” Coach said.
With 2018 U Sports commit and CFC100 defensive end Cole Snyder on the field, this Bobcat will have his final opportunity to win his last regulation high school football game.
“I am preparing for this game through watching as much film as possible and taking solid reps at practice,” Snyder explained. “This game will definitely be won by the team who executes the best.”
The University of Calgary commit has thrived as a leader on the Bobcat team and wants to channel that leadership once he is placed in his new red gear.
“Hard work can upset talent when you work harder.”
Football Alberta asks the question, βIs the home field advantage enough to get the Griffins over the top or will the Bobcats continue their ascent in the Top-10?
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
