CFC50 Dakota Lancers vs. CFC50 St. Paulβs Crusaders
Friday, Sept. 29th @ 7:00pm
This week in the Winnipeg High School Football League our premier game will be the Dakota Lancers against St. Paulβs Crusaders on Friday, at 7:00 pm. Both teams are 3-0 heading into this one.
The Lancers will meet up with St. Paulβs after a big 14-2 victory over Vincent Massey, while St. Paulβs earned a victory in the Laping Challenge 38-0 over Oak Park.
I talked to Dakotaβs Ray Jarvis about what the feeling is like in the clubhouse at 3-0 right now. βIt is a good feeling to know we are on the right track,β said Jarvis. βMassey is a very good team and having the opportunity toΒ compete with them through the course of a game is a confident booster for the team. We also know we are not satisfied and need to continue to work hard and get better each week to remain competitive in the WHSFL.β
Last weekβs win against Massey was a team effort. βOur defense made significant contributions holding Massey in key situations with some timely turn overs and tackles in the backfield,β mentioned Jarvis. Dakotaβs defense bought their offense just enough time to regain some field position and score a couple of touchdowns late in the game.

The message heading into this game doesnβt change for the Lancers. Jarvis explained, βEvery team in the division is well coachedΒ and hasΒ great players. We need to play within ourselves, limit our mistakes andΒ compete each and every down.β
This will be the Dakota Lancers final road game before they play their first game at home. βNot looking ahead of ourselvesΒ but the opportunity to play at home will be significant,β said Jarvis. βFor all those whoΒ contributed and supported this project the payoff will be when the Lancers step onto the field.Β We know thatΒ this would have not been possible withoutΒ the dedicatedΒ effortsΒ of many for which we are thankful.β
The Lancers will finally be able to celebrate their teams in their own backyard with the community on October 5th when they host the Sisler Spartans.
We at CFC think that the Dakota Lancers will give the Crusaders a run for their money but in the end St. Paul’s will get the win.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
