No. 1 St. Francis Browns (3-0, 1-0) 43, Bishop Grandin Ghosts (0-1-2) 0 (mercy rule)
Not much to say here.  The Browns continue their domination of Southern Alberta. At this point, their starters are not playing full games. In most games, they are not even making it to half time so it’s difficult to assess stats and/or box scores. They continue to rank No. 1 as they enter their bye week and have two weeks to prepare for their biggest game of the year against Notre Dame.

No. 3 Bev Facey Falcons (4-0, 2-0) 48, Spruce Grove Panthers (3-2) 7 (mercy rule)
The Falcons dominated the Panthers 48-7. Bev Facey #CFC100 RB Chuba Hubbard had 108 yards rushing on 5 carries, 2 of those going for touchdowns. Defensively, they were once again led by Chase Avery who 10.5 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Up front, #CFC100 OL/DL James Duffie Jr. led the way as Bev Facey controlled the line of scrimmage.

No. 4 Leboldus Golden Suns (4-0, 1-0) 54, Balfour Bears (1-3) 8
Leboldus proved to be too much once again as they won their game 54-8 against the Balfour Bears. The Suns #CFC100 RB Semba Mbasela had 87 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Also #CFC100 LB Nick Cross had 1 rushing touchdown to go along with a solid effort on defense.

No. 11 St. Paul’s Crusaders (4-0) 50, Sturgeon Heights Huskies (2-2) 7
St. Paul’s beat the Huskies 50-7 and were once again led by Remis Tshiobo who had 7 carries for 107 yards and 1 touchdown. Tshiobo also had 1 reception for 70 yards and 1 touchdown. Crusaders #CFC100 DB Shae Weekes contributed 1.5 tackles to a dominant defensive effort. Next week, St. Paul’s will take on the Kelvin Clippers.

No. 12 Terry Fox Ravens (2-0, 0-2) 57, WJ Mouat Hawks (0-2) 0
Terry Fox blanks WJ Mouat 57-0 in what could be the most lopsided victory in the history of one of the more storied rivalries in BC high school football. Terry Fox #CFC100 RB Jeremie Kankolongo, rushed for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns as Fox relied heavily on a rushing attack to control the game. The Raven’s defense scored twice and knocked WJ Mouat #CFC100 ATH Nelson Lokombo out of the game with a lower body injury. Between Lokombo’s injury and Kankolongo’s dominance, the game got out of hand as the Raven’s ran away from the Hawks.

No. 15 Harry Ainlay Titans (5-0, 1-0) 37, Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds (0-5-1) 7 (stats: HA hudl)
Harry Ainlay relied on heavily on their run game to secure a 37-7 win over Ross Sheppard. The Titans were almost unstoppable on the ground. As a team they rushed for 422 yards with 4 touchdowns. With these kinds of numbers on the ground, the Titans only attempted 11 passes with 1 of them going for a 43 yard touchdown. Defensively, Harry Ainlay’s Justin Rutherford had 10 solo tackles, 1 assist and 2 QB sacks. Rylie Szafranski had 2 QB sacks plus a forced fumble. (no stats registered for Titan #CFC100 LB Tadi Siwira)

No. 16 New Westminster Hyacks (1-1, 2-1) 28, Notre Dame Jugglers (1-0) 44
The Hyacks lost 44-28 in a game they were favoured to win. The game can best be summed up by missed tackles and a lack of execution by New West. “Offensively everything we wanted was there, but we made some mental mistakes, couldn’t execute on some simple plays, and I think we got too cute as a ‎coaching staff.” stated head coach Farhan Lalji. New West #CFC100 ATH Trew Dancey had 11 carries for 73 yards to go along with 6 tackles defensively. While #CFC100 DE Prento Durigon had 9 solo tackles to lead the defense. The Notre Dame QB Steven Morreto, single handily took the game over and imposed his will on the Hyacks defense. “Steven Morreto was outstanding tonight. He single-handedly made us look like a JV team. You have to give him credit, but at the same time, that was the worst half of football we’ve played in the last 3 years. Defensively we were in position, but our fundamentals could not have been worse and we simply couldn’t finish a play.” The Hyacks go into a bye week where they will need to get back to basics and get ready for two signature games against the top two teams in the province.

vanvcouver-college

No. 17 Vancouver College Fighting Irish (1-1, 2-1) 44, Belmont Bulldogs (0-2) 6
Belmont lost to the Fighting Irish 6-44 as Vancouver College piled up 409 rushing averaging over 12 yards a carry to go along with 4 rushing touchdowns. The Irish were 6 yards short of having 3-100 yard rushers. #CFC100 RB Michael Le had 181 yards on 16 carries to go along with 2 touchdowns. #CFC100 QB Jacob Samuels was 8 of 16 for 137 yards and 2 touchdown passes. Four different players each had 2 sacks.

No. 20 Vincent Massey Trojans (3-1, 0-1) 45, Oak Park Raiders (2-2) 13
Vincent Massey beat out the Raiders 45-13. (no stats registered – Trojans #CFC100 DE Jalen Burley)

No. 21 Holy Cross Crusaders (4-0) 10, Bishop Mahoney Saints (2-2) 3
The Holy Cross Crusaders won 10-3 against the Bishop Mahoney Saints and continue to go undefeated.

No. 23 Henry Wise Wood Warriors (3-0, 0-1) 39, Bishop O’Byrne Bobcats (1-2) 7
(no stats registered – Henry Wise Wood #CFC100 DE Tyrese Best)

No. 27 Campbell Tartans (2-2) 26, Riffel Royals (3-1) 40 (stats – Riffel Hudl)
Riffel pulls off the upset with a 40-26 win over the Campbell Tartans. The Royals relied on a balanced offensive attack who had almost 400 yards of offense. These totals included 214 rushing to go along with 3 rushing touchdowns that would play a huge role in their upset victory over the Tartans. The Tartans who also rushed for over 200 yards, were unable to effectively move the ball through the air. Turnovers also plagued the Tartans as they put the ball on the ground 5 times. Turnovers and and ineffective passing attack would prove to have an major impact on the outcome of the game. (no individual stats registered Riffel #CFC100 RB Kyle Borsa)

No. 38 Notre Dame Pride (2-0, 0-1) 24, Bishop Carrol Cardinals (0-1-1) 0
The Pride shut out Bishop Carrol 24-0 in a game where the ND defense imposed its will. The story of the day for the ND offense was their big, young running back Ike Okafor who went over 100 yards rushing averaging over 10 yards a carry. (No registered stats – Notre Dame #CFC100 OL Tyler Packer, #CFC100 DB Deane Leonard)

No. 41 Centennial Chargers (4-0) 41, Walter Murray Marauders (2-2) 7
The Chargers remain undefeated and are on a collision course with Holy Cross at the end of their regular season (no stats registered).

No. 42 Tantramar Regional Titans (4-0) 93, Mathieu-Martin Matadors (0-2) 0

No. 43 CP Allen Cheetahs (2-0) 48 v. Sir John A 0
The score was 34-0 at the half for the Cheetahs as they tried to manage the game throughout. Ethan Tucker had 2 rushing touchdowns, Daniel Spilman had 1 rushing touchdown, QB Ian Oyler rushed for a touchdown and threw to Michael Forsey resulting in a touchdown. On defense, Mitchell Broussard had 1 INT for a touchdown while Kyle Bevan led the defense with 6 tackles.

No. 45 St. Thomas More Knights (0-2, 1-1) 18, Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers (2-0) 26
A dog fight it was. The Panthers pulled off an upset win on the road against the St. Thomas More Knights on Friday night. Players who rose to the occasion were RB/LB Derek Best with 22 carries for 162 yards and 1 touchdown and 10 tackles, QB Dingwall was 8 of 16 for 107 yards passing. One of those was an 81 yard touchdown to Dawson Marchant.  Dingwall also had a 46 yard touchdown run. Defensively, it was 2 goal line stands by Lord Tweedsmuir that played a significant role in their upset victory.

No. 46 L.C.I. Rams (3-0, 1-2) 34, Raymond Comets 17
L.C.I. Rams accumulated 444 yards of offense as they defeated the Raymond Comets 34-17 in the Alberta game of the week. The offense was led by Tanner Sudo who had 20 carries for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns. This is Sudo’s second big effort in as many weeks and is starting to turn heads among several CIS coaches as he has entered into video game stat land. Another Ram making his mark in the game was Tanner McLachlan who had 6 catches for 88 yards and 1 touchdown. We will now refer to the L.C.I. Rams as the Tanner and Tanner show. Intriguing thing about McLachlan is he is a very fluid route runner who has an incredible wing span to go along with his 6’5 frame.

No. 49 South Delta Sun Devils (2-0, 2-0) 34, Carson Graham (0-2) 28
Carson Graham almost pulled off the upset as this one went into overtime. South Delta came away with a 34-28 victory. South Delta opened the scoring with a 65 yard touchdown pass from Ben McDonald to Bill Matichwya. Carson Graham answered to make the score 8-7. South Delta was next to score as Matt Porteous scampered for a 80 yard touchdown run. South Delta attempted the 2-point convert and failed making the score 14-7. Once again, Carson Graham answered making the score 14-14. Before half South Delta’s other QB Michael Calvert, hit Billy Matichwya with a 44 yard touchdown strike. South Delta failed on the 2-point convert making the score 20-14 heading in at the half. Matt Porteous of South Delta returned a second half kickoff for 90 yard touchdown putting the Devils up 28-14. Carson Graham would go on to score 2 touchdowns, 1 late in the third and 1 late in the fourth to tie the game pushing the contest into overtime. On the first overtime series, Calvert hit Matichwya for his third receiving touchdown. Once again, South Delta fails to convert following a touchdown. South Delta would have to rely on their defense to win the game by stopping Carson Graham at their own 3 yard line on 4th down. No registered stats for Sun Devils #CFC100 LB Grant McDonald.

Kelowna (18), Mission (29)
Both teams were looking for their first conference win today at Mission Secondary School.  Blaise Beauchemin set the tone with a 75 yard kick off return for a touchdown, but penalties and mental mistakes held Kelowna back. “It was a tough loss, especially with the great start we had on offense, but we as a coaching staff are leaving here very proud of the team. We had a great week of practice and we came to this game feeling really good. We are going to continue to learn from our experiences and work with it”. Kelowna will play WJ Mouat next Friday in Abbotsford. -Courtesy Kelowna SS
