….and now let’s get to it with this week’s #CFC50 PLAYOFF Game PREVIEW
Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard
Two undefeated seasons at stake. Will QB Xavier Tremblay and Curé-Antoine-Labelle upset Saint-François. Will the Maraudeurs’ defence make them perfect and bring home a second championship in a row!

École Sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups (5-3) vs Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard (8-0) Immense challenge for the Loups to run through the Blizzard and come out alive. The Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard is on a quest to complete a perfect season and has yet been challenged. They blew away the Harfangs last week and they were without their all-star RB, Kalenga Muganda, who finished number 1 in rushing.

The two-dimensional athlete, Étienne Amiot, relieved Muganda and tore up the Triolet defence. Muganda is predicted to be at 100% and Amiot will return to the dark side, making the hopes of Curé-Antoine-Labelle pretty thin. Although, the Loups did manage to beat Notre-Dame and their outstanding ground game. But the difference in this matchup is the reliable Saint-François QB, Raphael Latulippe, and he has been on target all season.

Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard QB #4 Raphael Latulippe
Latulippe delivered 76 passes on 107 attempts for a 1383 total yards, 18 touchdowns and a miraculous 2 interceptions, making him a great asset in their pursuit of excellence. Offensively, the Loups have tremendously improved since their loss to the Blizzard in week 1, where they were shredded on the account of a 42-7, and QB Xavier Tremblay has taken the leadership of the pack.

Tremblay finished the season with 105 completions out of 155 attempts for 1498 yards, 18 touchdowns and 4 picks. Unlike his counterpart, Tremblay cannot rely on the running game as much and will need mother nature to back him up. Arguably the best defence in the division with only 86 points against, Saint-François has a definite advantage over the Loups and their best tactic is the combination of Muganda and Latulippe keeping their offence on the field. They have played the second half of 7 of their regular-season games, in running time, which has enabled them to have their younger players gain more maturity and augment the quality of their depth. An upset would undoubtedly be the closest thing to a miracle.

Collège Laval Maraudeurs QB #2 Jonathan Sénécal
É. Sec. Armand-Corbeil Scorpions (7-1) vs Collège Laval Maraudeurs (8-0) An upset is realistically feasible if the underdog Scorpions’ defence brings their A game and the weather makes it tough for the number one QB, Jonanthan Sénécal, to throw the ball. Armand-Corbeil can manage the clock with their power running game, powered by RB Danté Tortoricci who finished at the top of his position with 1324 rushing yards. The Scorpions’ slasher QB/RB Justin Leduc has the capabilities to create momentum and generate some points while keeping the Maraudeurs’ offence on the bench.

The dual-threat Leduc, who completed 116 out of 170 for 1939 yards, 18 touchdowns, 6 picks, and rushed for 443 yards, can provide his team the points needed to win. The challenge is in stopping Laval in scoring more points. Giving up points has been an issue all season with the Scorpions’ defence and will be an important factor in this contest. The defending champs are playing for a perfect season and a repeat. The Maraudeurs’ offence, ranked number one, has put up a division high of 340 points and they won each of their 9 games, including the semis, by 16 points or more. Sénécal has been directing this offensive battering artillery with an exemplary leadership and is supported by an excellent offensive line. He finished at the summit of the QB category with 150 completions out of 263 for 2160 yards, with an impressive 28 touchdowns and an astonishing 2 interceptions. The fire power behind this machine is able to light up the sky and produce plenty of points fast, the downfall is their run game and it might put a little wrinkle in their path to victory. Their defence was able to stop the Scorpions in their confrontation this season and finished with 118 points against, positioning them number one and in a great situation to complete their task of bringing the Bol D’Or back home.
