CFC60 Charles-Pierre announces NCAA commitment

The recruiting world will always provide surprises, and CFC60 Olivier Charles-Pierre out of New Mexico MI (JUCO) delivered by announcing his commitment to Houston over the weekend. There were no signs of the Cougars on the radar, but they were able to swoop in to beat out offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan, New Mexico State and Delaware State – plus I’m sure he had RSEQ programs interested early on as well.

CFC100/CFC60 Recruiting Stories

He joins Alex Fontana as the second Canadian to commit to Houston since we started tracking back in 2010, but Fontana transferred to Kansas for his redshirt senior year after missing the entire 2017 season with the Cougars due to injury. On a side note, Fontana just finished participating in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, which is always a nice sign when you can follow in the path of a Canadian prospect making waves in NFL circles.

NCAA EARLY SIGNING DAY TRACKER

Charles-Pierre patrols on the opposite side of the line, and is a rare breed who’s considered a legitimate nose tackle prospect that can wreak havoc in the middle of the trenches. If you’re picturing a massive man who just eats up blocks, you’re wrong because he’s also athletic enough hunt down plays from sideline to sideline, and he’s a quarterbacks worst nightmare if he’s able to beat the centre clean off the ball. He began his CEGEP career playing at Montmorency, and finished his final season at NMMI with 30 total tackles and 5.5 TFLs.

As mentioned earlier, Houston came out of nowhere to claim Charles-Pierre away from many programs who were working hard on earning his signature, but in the end he decided to bet on himself,

“This is all Gods plan! During early signing day period I turned down all the offers I had because I felt that I could end up at a better school – I know my worth.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
