E. sec. Cure-Antoine-Labelle Les Loups (6-2) @ College Notre-Dame Cactus (7-1)

No doubt which Quebec game would be hilited this week. A rematch of last year’s final where to Cactus played great defense and came out on top on a late touchdown drive. The winner claims second place in Juvenile 1A and a home playoff spot in quarter and semi-final games. The Cactus look to dominate the line of scrimmage with the likes of Fraser Baikie and Mathieu Betts. CurΓ©-Antoine-Labelle’s Charles-Cormier Beaulieu will give them all they can handle.

National Capital

Wed, October 19th, 2011 [1:30pm]

St. Matthew’s (3-1) @ St. Peter’s (4-0)

These two teams met way back in week one and St. Peter’s prevailed 28 to 27. St. Matthew’s looks like they have improved more since that match up. A win gives St. Peter’s first place in Ottawa tier 1. Alex Johnny is the key to the Knights offense. St. Matthew’s offense ‘by committee’ does not have one player to key on…which may give the knights problems.

Tier II

#7 Foothills Falcons vs. #3 Holy Trinity Academy Knights
Friday, October 21, 7:00 p.m.
Holy Trinity Academy Field (Okotoks)

The inaugural Big Rock League Championship Game also doubles as the second round of the β€˜Battle of Okotoks’ this season. Other than Sherwood Park, Okotoks is the most consistence producer of top flight players at the post-secondary level and the consistent excellence of these two teams is the major reason why. The Knight’s rise to prominence has brought them to par with their traditionally powerful neighbors from Foothills. Now with both teams finally in the same league (Foothills had been independent for years while HTA had a nomadic run through the Big Sky and Rangeland leagues over the past few years) it’s really amped up the fireworks in Okotoks. HTA took the earlier game between the two in a squeaker 14-10 and stand undefeated while the Falcons are an uncharacteristic .500. At stake it not only the title of Big Rock champ but the right to move on vs. the Rockyview Tier II Champ for the right to go to Provincials.

Mt. Douglas Rams (CFC #11 ) 2-0 @ Vancouver College Fighting Irish (CFC HM) 2-0

Even though the Irish are at home we will give the edge to the Rams. The Irish may be able to score some points but their defense is no match for the likes of Terrell Davis and Jordan Deverill. VC Front 7 is the key to the game.
