Sir John A MacDonald Flames (2-1) @ Horton Griffins (2-0-1)

Sir John A is coming off a dissappointing loss to citadel 36 to 23. The Flames will hope for a better start to this game. Flames QB Matt Shannon will need to rise to the occasion against arguably the top defensive line in Nova Scotia, led by Adam Melanson.

Highlander QB Kyle McConnell looks to lead his offense out of ‘funk’ after three games with only 36 points. College Notre-Dame Cactus @ Academie St. Louis L’Arsenal

Académie Saint-Louis are coming off a disappointing loss to CFC #1 Blizzard. QB Alexandre Hardy has been exceptional this season, leading his team to the second best point record in Juvenile Division 1. The Cactus boast the #1 defense in league, giving up only 29 points in 5 games. Mathieu Betts and friends hope to continue this defensive dominance.

National Capital

Sat, October 01st, 2011 [11:00am]

Eastview Wildcats (0-1) @ Central Phoenix (0-1)

Both teams are coming off tight score losses in week 1. Phoenix QB Ian Jones and the rest of skill position players hope for a better showing then in week 1. The Wildcats were shut out in week 1 but played great defense in the loss. Must get their running game back on track, led by David Clark.

Metro

Fri, September 30th, 2011 [7:00pm]

Holy Trinity Titans (0-0, 1-0) @ Pickering (0-0)

Holy Trinity are the defending metro bowl champions and have high expectations for this season as well. Played well in an exhibition game versus King City. The ’13th man’ is a big factor for the Titans – the #1 fan support in Metro. Pickering is always one of the most athletic teams in Metro…but will they have the discipline to defend the ‘fly’ offense.

Golden Horseshoe

Wed, September 28th, 2011 [3:30pm]

Waterdown (2-0) @ Sir Allan MacNab (1-1)

Waterdown is coming off an impressive victory over Orchard Park (defense was stellar), a team that beat the defending champs (MacNab) in week 1. Will be an important match up for playoff positioning.

BONUS GAME:

St.Marguerite d’Youville Pathers (1-0) square off against a very tough opponent in Notre Dame Knights (1-0). Notre Dame had an impressive win over St. Thomas Aquinas last week 35-7. Notre Dame’s offense is lead by Brampton Bulldog’s QB Christian Strong, with many great receivers such as Shaquille Johnson. In week 1 the d’Youville Panthers looked solid and beat last year’s tier 2 champions 17-0. Notre Dame is looking to use thier pass oriented offense to beat last year’s ROPSSAA Champions this Thursday night at 7pm @ Chingacousy Park. Many people believe that this will be a preview of the Tier 1 ROPSSAA championship game this year.

The Trojans are looking to bounce back from a loss to the Crusaders while the Bulldogs are still licking their wound from a loss to Sturgeon Heights. Joshua Bourassa (Trojans) and company hope to shut down the Bulldog offense and probably will.

Tier I

CFC#2 Bev Facey Falcons vs. CFC #3 Salisbury Sabres

Thursday, September 29, 5:00 p.m.
Strathcona Athletic Park (Sherwood Park)

Arguably, along with L.C.I/Raymond, the top Tier I rivalry in Alberta. This game takes on new meaning this week as for the first time ever the Sherwood Park powerhouses come in ranked #1 and #2 respectively. Both teams are undefeated and haven’t been in a close game yet save for Salisbury’s 14-9 win over Raymond to start the season which was the first Comet defeat in Alberta since 2007. The Falcons are still smarting over their upset loss in the Metro Edmonton final last year to the Sabres and have been taking it out on teams ever since winning all four games they have played this season by an average score of 40-5 and holding down the #1 ranking since the first week of the season. Not exactly a fan friendly time to play the game but with limited seating at Strathcona Athletic Park the suggestion would be to arrive early if you don’t want to stand.

British Columbia

Sat, October 01st, 2011 [1:30pm]

WJ Mouat Hawks (0-0, 2-1) @ Vancouver College Fighting Irish (0-0, 2-2)

It starts for real next week (conference play) but don’t tell either team that this one doesn’t count. Mouat were ball hawks last week with 4 picks, one each from Deion Bain, Daniel Markin, Tanner Strauss, and Crysthian Rivas. Nathan Henczel has been dynamic on offense for the Hawks. VC got back to their winning ways last week. Leading the way for the Irish was Matt Alviz who had 269 yards on 14 carries. Justin Sanvido and Kristian Abian are all over the field on defense.
