CFCs ‘Top 25’ CIS poll – Week 7 “Ho Hum, Laval’s #1”

1. (NC) Laval Rouge et or(7-0) +230
Ho hum. Lavals #1. Whats the injury status on Arnaud Gascon-Nadon?

2. (3) Regina Rams(5-1) +131
The rams continue to prove they are for real. Finish the season at home to calgary and at Saskatchewan. Let the games begin.

3. (4) Western Mustangs (6-1) +209
76 to 0 over york. Play Toronto and then a bye. Hoping for Ottawa to lose so they can secure first with a victory.

4. (6) Saskatchewan Huskies (3-2) +76
Defeated Calgary for the second time this season. The way things are going they may have to do it a third time. Look to avenge earlier loss to UBC this week.

5. (3) Calgary Dinos (4-2) -10
Two games against Saskatchewan = two losses. Will the return of Erik Glavic be what the doctor orders for the home stretch?

6. (7) Montreal Carabins (5-2) +53
Defeated McGill handily and close out the year against concordia then bishop’s. Win both and second place is theirs. Will play bishops to end the regular season and to start the playoffs back to back. Now that should be fun.

7. (5) Bishops Gaiters (5-2) +6
Lost a game and lost a QB. The 9 game regular season schedule with no bye may back fire against the Q…when they get to the playoffs. Especially if no one has a starting QB left.

8. (NC) Ottawa Gee Gees – (6-1) +80
Had the bye. Win versus guelph, secures a first place bye and home field throughout the OUA playoffs.

9. (NC) McMaster Mauraders (6-2) +89
Looked shaky versus toronto in the first half but regrouped for a solid second half. Have the bye this week and have secured third place in the OUA. If things go as scripted they will host their friends from kingston.

10. (18) Saint Mary’s Huskies (3-3) 47
On a three game winning streak and look like they have some sustainable momentum. Big test this week at home against Mount Alison and a healthy gary ross.

11. (15) Sherbrooke Vert et or (3-4) -17
JP Shoiry put in a gutsy effort and the vert et or pulled out a double overtime victory at home against the stingers. Are in the drivers seat for the last playoff position. But the last playoff position means traveling to quebec city.

12. (16) UBC Thunderbirds (2-4) -60
Come back victory for the ages. Can they sustain the momentum? Alberta holds the head to head tie breaker and both teams play manitoba once. UBC would have to beat Saskatchewan for a second time and Alberta lose to Calgary if they both defeat Manitoba.

13. (12) Wilfrid Laurier Hawks- (3-4) +38
The only team to go one and one this week. Lost a game in the board room then won a game on the field. If they defeat windsor this week will be poised for a potential home playoff in the quarters.

14. (13) Guelph Gryphons (4-3) +10
Beat the lancers handily. Travel to Ottawa with a home playoff date on the line. Win and host a quarter final. Lose and travel.

15. (10) Alberta Golden Bears (2-4) -36
Can anyone figure out the bears? We can’t.

16. (12) Concordia Stingers (3-4) -43
Playoffs. Playoffs. Probably not. Sherbrooke holds the tie breaker and would have to hope sherbrooke loses their final 2 (bishop’s and mcgill) and they win one of their final two (montreal and laval). Gonna be tough.

17. (22) Mount Allison Mounties (3-3) -24
Gary Ross is back. We hope he stays healthy the rest of the way. They may be the only team that can give SMU a run for their money.

18. (15) Queens Gaels(2-5) +28
When they are bad they are bad. When they are good they are good. This young team should defeat York in their finally then will have to watch the scoreboard to see if they make the playoffs. If things go as planned would travel to McMaster in the quarters.

19. (NC) Acadia Axemen (3-3) -33
Homecoming celebration was a disappointment for the axemen who’s offense continues to sputter.

20. (17) Manitoba Bisons (1-5) -120
Were leading at half versus #2 Regina then the wheels fell off.

21. (22) Toronto Varsity Blues (3-4) -84
Were leading against MAC at halftime but then were overpowered. “Recruit linemen” is written in the off season game plan.

22. (20) Windsor Lancers (2-5) -65
Have beat York and Toronto so far. Last chance this week versus Laurier.

23. (NC) Saint Francis Xavier (1-5) -120
Back to back games usually means you are closer in the second one. Not the case against SMU this week.

24. (NC) McGill Redmen (0-7) -125
We still don’t think mcgill is the 24th team in the country but they can’t win any games.

25. (NC) York Lions (0-7) -305
Coach Craney has 1 week left until recruiting becomes a 24/7 job.
