TOP 25

1) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. – (0-0)
Brady Churly will be hilited in this years Hawks attack. You may see him line up at receiver, running back and quarterback. Churly represented British Columbia at the recent Football Canada Cup as did receivers Desmond Bassi and John Watson (photo) and QB Cam Bedore. They may be pretty good in the pass game this year. Head coach Denis Kelly was the offensive coordinator for team B.C.

2) Aden Bowman Bears – Saskatoon – (1-0)
The Bears beat st. joes 36 to 0 led by Football Canada Cup star QB Drew Burko (17 of 27 passes for 197 yards and three TDs, to go along with 10 carries for 94 yards and a major). The reigning 4A champs are looking to repeat in 2010.

3) Raymond Comets – Raymond, AB (2-0)
Won last years title but may be challenged this year because of their lack of size up front. This week they beat Lebouldus (SK) 66-4. There next opponent is from south of the border versus Blackfoot, ID.

4) Mother Teresa – London, ON – (0-0)
Running Backs Alex Iezzi and Tommy Marshall are coming off a successful stint with team ontario at the Football Canada Cup. Adam Sinclair converts from running back to safety and Chad Sorenson will anchor the defense from his linebacker spot. Repeating as Western Bowl champs is a good possibility.

5) CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal – (2-0)
Defense has led the way in first two victories only giving up 4 points per game. Linebackers Brendan Coffey, Louis-Charles Dussault ,and defensive linemen Ugo Cavalancia and Mathieu Betts star on that defense.

6) Γ‰. sec. CurΓ©-Antoine-Labelle les Loups – Laval, QC – (2-0)
Like the other 2 quebec entries on the top 25 list defense has been the key for les loups in their first 2 games. The wolves have been led by Gabriel Parent, Khadim Mbaye, and Matthew Gelineau in their first 2 games. The defending Juvenile AAA champs will be a force again this year.

7) Centennial Centaurs – Coquitlam, BC (0-0)
Exhibition play lost 37-18 at Lynden, Wash. The 2009 BC AAA champs should be a force again this year. New head coach Ryk Piche will look to key returning veterans like all-purpose player Bobby Pospischil, tackle Jacob Hayes and centre Lucas Telfor to carry the load.

8) Kelowna Owls – Kelowna, BC (0-0)
In exhibition play Taylor Loffler didn’t disappoint in his senior season debut for Kelowna. The Owls quarterbacking sensation rushed for scores of 30 and 40 yards, connected with Carter Bilawchuk on a 55-yard strike, then returned a kickoff 87 yards for another score in a 53-7 win over visiting Oroville, Wash.

9) Herman – Windsor, ON (0-0)
Led by Michigan State commit Arjen Colquhoun this team should be one of the more explosive teams in Ontario.

10) Donald A. Wilson Gators – Whitby, ON (0-0)
Will be a solid squad. Players to watch will be Greg Morris – RB / DB, Chivon Gallagher – REC / RB / DB, Dakota Rose – OL / DL, Joe Denobirga – OL / LB, Mike McGregor – LB. Cam Canales, after a successful summer in the Team BC defensive backfield will go back to QB to look to lead his Ravens to the promise land. The line will be lead by Team BCs Alex Agnoletto. The ravens just returned from Ottawa, ON where they hammered the St Mark Lions 44 to 6.

12) Bishop O Byrne – Calgary, AB (0-0)
Big offensive line averaging 250 lbs may take them all the way this year. Play Cardston this week. Led by Team Alberta running back Denzel Morrison who should enjoy playing behind that big oline.

13)
SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec – (2-0)
In week one they defeated their major rival from St-Jean-Eudes. The blizzard have been led by Mathieu Duval DL, Dimitri Roy DL et Jean-Gabriel Poulin LB and Jean-François Bernard OL and RB Brad Laplante.

This week beat Cardston 51-0 (next vs. McNally). They are led on offense by Team Alberta QB Taylor Yaremchuk, REC Conrad Whetstone and DL Logan Laforce.

15) St. Paul’s Crusaders – Winnipeg (0-0)
Will be looking to defend their 2009 title. Loaded with talent. Team Manitoba QB and REC tandem, Theo Deezar and Rhys Hansen look to lead the offense. Football Canada Cup all star linebacker D.J. Lalama will lead the best front 7 in manitoba.

16) Holy Cross Crusaders – Saskatoon (1-0)
Will lean on veteran play of
quarterback Derek Sadownick, running back Stephen Baumann and slotback Jordan Spooner. The defence will be bolstered by the return of linebackers Kayle Best and Landon McKay. Beat STM 34 to 6 on friday to open season.

17) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (0-0)
Led by Team Nova Scotia starting QB Jesse Mills, the Phoenix open the season as nova scotia favourites. Since the school was opened in 2007, they have participated in all 3 nova scotia finals, winning the last 2. Because of Hurricane Earl, they open their season this weekend versus valley opponents from Horton high school, one week later then scheduled.

18) Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (0-0)
Play this week vs. Coronado, CA. Should have strong play from Brandon Foster, Team Alberta 2010 defensive back.

19) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (0-0)
Will be looking to avenge their 2009 title game loss. Nic Demski leads charge for the raiders. With qb and wr’s returning, their pass game might open up the run. On defense they are undersized but tough, their defensive line is led by justin hilton and linebackers are led by brendan tommasson and cal birdshill. A week six match up versus St. Pauls should be circled on the winnipeg calendar.

20) Moncton Purple Knights – Moncton, NB (0-0)
