The Grande Prairie Warriors season has come to an end after a loss in the Alberta Tier 1 playdowns to Bev Facey. SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois Blizzard lost the Bol d’or and their bid for the #1 ranking in the country. The week 11 rankings include a new #1 and 5 new entries.
The CFC ‘top 25’ high school rankings is released between Sunday at 6pm and Monday at 12 noon depending on when scores are reported.

1 (2) Nelson Lords β Burlington, ON (8-0, 1-0)
Defeated MM Robinson in Halton Tier 1 semi-final game 42 to 7. Josh Vandeweerd & Ben Megarry had 2 touchdowns a piece and Blake Culver and Wes Miller each had one. Play Corpus Christi in Halton Tier 1 championship Wednesday at noon (McMasterβs Ron Joyce Stadium).
2 (4) CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame Cactus β Montreal (11-1) FINAL
Louis-Philippe Normandin, Francis Baikie, and Mathieu-Louis Normandin were important in the Cactusβ Bol d’or victory over former CFC #1 SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois Blizzard. The Cactus came away with a 17 to 0 victory in snowy conditions in Quebec city. Takeaways by the Cactus defense were the key to the game.
3 (3) Cardinal Newman Cardinals β Stoney Creek, ON (7-0)
Dominated Bishop Tonnos at Ivor Wynne stadium Friday in Hamilton Catholic semi-final action. Play STM Thursday 3:00pm at McMaster. Winner advances to GHAC playdowns versus winner of Nelson and Corpus Christi.
4 (5) St Thomas More Knights β Vancouver, BC (5-0, 3-0)
Had a first round playoff bye this week. Host Centennial this week who they beat 37 to 6 during the regular season.
5 (6) St. Paul’s Crusaders β Winnipeg (11-0) FINAL
Defeated last yearβs Manitoba high school champions, Oak Park, 32 to 12 in the Manitoba final. RB Blair Mattes was a workhorse (game MVP) and defensive lineman Lucas Machado had a βpick sixβ in the win. QB Theo Deezar had a solid game as well as placekicker/receiver Rhys Hansen who had field goals of 21, , 17, 17, and 15 yards.
6 (7) Harry Ainlay Titans β Edmonton (12-0)
Defeated Salisbury Sabres in opening round of Alberta tier 1 playdowns 23 to 15. Play the Bev Facey Falcons this Saturday in Tier 1 semi-final playdowns. One could argue this is the βAlberta tier 1β final.
7 (1) SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec (10-1) FINAL
The Blizzard lost the Bol dβor to CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame Cactus 17 to 0 in Quebec City this weekend. Turnovers were the ultimate demise for the former CFC #1.
8 (8) Riffel Royals β Regina, SK (9-0)
Trailing 10 to 9 in the fourth quarter, Royals Lance Pitzaβs 95-yard βpick sixβ gave the points and momentum necessary for the Royals to win the Saskatchewan 4A provincial crown. The final score of 20 to 10 gave the Royals their first provincial crown since 2005.
9 (10) Bev Facey Falcons β Sherwood Park, AB (8-0-2)
Defeated Grande Prairie Warriors in the opening round of Tier 1 playdowns 49 to 0. Play Harry Ainlay Titans in which could arguably be the βAlberta tier 1β final.
10 (12) Northern Vikings- Sarnia, ON (8-0, 1-0)
Defeated Chatham-Kent (CKSS) in the SWOSSA semi-finals 53 to 0. Play Herman Griffins (Windsor) in Western Bowl playdowns Friday night under the lights at the University of Windsor. Herman defeated Northern in last yearβs game.
11 (15) St. Andrew’s Saints β Aurora, ON (6-1, 2-0)
Defeated UCC in rematch of last yearβs classic overtime final by a score of 27 to 22. Believe they will face the York region winner in semi-final of Metro Bowl playdowns. Not all starters will be eligible for that match up according to OFSAA eligibility.
12 (14) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. (5-1, 3-1)
Defeated rival Terry Fox in opening round of BC AAA Varsity playoffs by a score of 31 to 0. The defense came up big with Jake Heathcote leading the way with 10 tackles, David Park with 6, and JD Paul and Nathan Henczel with 5 each. Henczel had an INT. Play Kelowna in BC quarterfinals this weekend.
13 (16) Vancouver College Fighting Irish β Vancouver (4-1, 2-3)
Had a first round playoff bye. Host rival Notre Dame this weekend in BC quarter final action. Defeated Notre Dame in final regular season game 27 to 13.
14 (20) King City Lions β King City (7-0, 0-1)
Defeated Markham Mauraders 30 to 2 in semi-final York region playoffs. Face rival Huron Heights, who they defeated 14 to 0 in regular season, in York finals this Saturday 6pm at St. Joan of Arc.
15 (HM) Bishop OβByrne Bobcats β Calgary (7-2-1)
Defeated Notre Dame Pride 20 to 8 in Calgary division 1 finals / first round of Alberta playdowns. They feel they are βthe best defense in provinceβ according to head coach Derek MacCready. Jarvis James, who has been compared to Calgary Dinoβs Steven Lumbala, leads the running attack. Host the Raymond Comets this Saturday in Alberta Tier 1 semi-finals.
16 (19) Notre Dame Knights β Brampton, ON (7-0)
Defeated St. Joan of Arc in Peel tier 1 semi-finals by a score of 32 to 22. Play Our Lady of Mount Carmel in peel championships on Wednesday. Did not play one another in regular season.
17 (18) Mount Douglas Rams β Victoria, B.C. (4-1, 2-2)
Had a first round bye this week. Face Lord Tweedsmuir in BC quarterfinal action this weekend. Did not face one another this season.
18 (17) Oak Park Raiders β Winnipeg (9-2) FINAL
Lost to St. Paulβs in Manitoba finals 32 to 12. RB Kedon Sweetney was Oak Parkβs player of the game, scoring on an electrifying 59-yard touchdown run.
19 (21) Citadel Phoenix β Halifax (9-0)
Defeated Cobequid in opening round of playoffs 38 to 14. Face off against Darmouth this Sunday in semi-finals. Game time 1pm at St Maryβs.
20 (HM) Donald A. Wilson Gators β Whitby (6-0)
Another season another Durham tier 1 championship for Coach Papadakosβ Gators. Chivon Gallagher and Keldyn Aldstedt have starred for the teamβs offense, defense, and specials all season. Await the Toronto winner (Northern or Agincourt) in Metro Bowl semi-finals.
21 (HM) Raymond Comets β Raymond, AB (6-2)
Another year, another southern Alberta championship for the school of 300 students. Last yearβs CFC #1 has steadily improved and will be a great match for the Bishop OβByrne Bobcats in the Alberta tier 1 semi-finals this Saturday.
22 (HM) Corpus Christi Longhorns β Burlington, ON (7-1)
Defeated Holy Trinity 31 to 7 in Halton Semi-finals. Aaron Veltri had 132 yards rushing and 1 TD, Brett Blaszko had 2 receptions for 47 yards and a 92 yard kickoff return for a TD, and Luke McQuilkin had 2 INT’s, one returned for a 26 yard TD, and one sack in the victory. Play CFC #1 Nelson Lords (their only loss this season) in Halton final this Wednesday.
23 (NR) Agincourt Lancers β Toronto (8-0)
Defeated Central Tech 34 to 0 in Tier 1 Toronto semi-finals. RB sensation Jayde Rowe has paced the offense to an average of 39.25 points per game. Play Northern in Toronto tier 1 final this Thursday.
24 (24) Superior Heights Steelhawks β Sault Ste Marie (7-2)
The Steelhawks made it 14 in a row (NOSSA titles) for Sault Ste. Marie-based teams with a 38 to 18 victory over North Bayβs St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears. The victory gives the Steelhawks a birth in the Northern Bowl November 29th at 8:30am at the Rogers Center in Toronto against the yet-to-be determined Thunder Bay winner. The no-huddle spread offense in alive in the βSaultβ.
25 tie (25) AcadΓ©mie Saint-Louis Arsenal β Quebec (7-4) FINAL
Lost to Séminaire Saint-François 31 to 10 in the semi-finals.
25 tie (HM) Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders β Moncton (6-3) FINAL
The comeback kids won the New Brunswick high school final in front of 4000 fans (1000 more than the AUS final). The Highlanders scored 2 fourth quarter touchdowns to win the final 14 to 13 over the Tantramar Titans. The defense caused the turnovers that allowed the offense to score the winning TDs. After a 3 and 3 regular season, the Highlanders got hot at the right time. This is the Highlanders fifth provincial title since 2004.
