CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – Week 11 “The playoff shuffle”


CFCs weekly high school poll for 12-man (11-man in BC) football teams across the country from Antigonish, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia.

The poll will include teams from all 8 high school playing provinces (PEI & Newfoundland do not play high school tackle football).

1 (1) Terry Fox Ravens – Port Coquitlam, BC (5-0, 9-0)

Had bye this weekend and now play the Notre Dame Jugglers after they defeated Salmon Arm 38 to 0. Can the Ravens end legendary Notre Dame head coach George Oswald’s tenure or does the cagey vet have a few tricks left? Subway Bowl chairman Larry Reda has confirmed with The Province that Subway Bowl’s Dec. 4 championship day will be played at Empire Field.

2 (2) Raymond Comets – Raymond, AB (9-0)

Defeated Bishop O’Byrne (Calgary runner up) at Shouldice Park in Tier 1 regional semi-finals 42 to 7. A few converted 3rd and goals and a great game for Jimmy Ralph who did it all; interception, a little QB, a little receiver and a little running back. Now play the Calgary city champs Notre Dame Saturday in Lethbridge. The comets will need and all round team effort to defeat Notre Dame…Connor Ralph, Dillon Prince, Owen Sieben, Nikora Smith, and grade 11 QB Brad Baker.

3 (3) CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal (11-0) – SEASON COMPLETE

Bol D’or Champs. Undefeated season. Beat defending champs. Scored TD with less than 2 minutes left in the game to win 17 to 14. Intercepted the ball with less then one minute to play to seal the victory. What a great story line. Congrats to everyone with the Cactus. Will now have to wait to see how they move based on others performances. #1 spot is not out of the question.

4 (4) Herman Griffins – Windsor, ON (8-0)

Defeated Sarnia Northern 28 to 17, exacting some revenge on last years Western Bowl playdown loss. Now await the winner of the CCH vs. East Elgin game to determine their opponent in the Western Bowl semi-finals.

5 (9) Lakeshore Gators – Port Colborne, ON (10-0)

Defeated Sir Allan MacNab (former CFC #15) 20 to 3 in the SOSSA finals. Await winner of the Hamilton Catholic final to determine their opponent in the Golden Horseshoe semi finals.

6 (7) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (9-0)

Defeated Central Kings in quarter final action 71 to 7. RB Dechaun beals had 10 carries for 125 yards, 1 rush TD and 1 receiving TD. Keith Graham also had 7 carries for 115 yards and 1 TD. QB Jesse Mills (CFC ‘top QBs’) was 13 for 14, 417 yards and 5 touchdowns…wow.

7 (11) Vancouver College – Vancouver (5-0, 8-2)

Had bye this weekend and now play CFC ‘HM’ and rival St. Thomas More Knights in the quarterfinals. The knights defeated the New Westminister Hyacks 33 to 12. Subway Bowl chairman Larry Reda has confirmed with The Province that Subway Bowl’s Dec. 4 championship day will be played at Empire Field.

8 (12) Resurrection Phoenix- Kitchener, ON (8-0)

Defeated Huron Heights in opening round of playoffs 49 to 2. Scoring for the phoenix Glorian Ganza – 24, Connor Sprout – 6, Alex Doczi – 12, Bruno Lopes – 5, Jason Chris – 2. The Western Bowl dream is officially over as court proceedings were too ‘late’.

9 (13) Holy Trinity Titans – Oakville, ON (7-0)

Defeated MM Robinson in Halton Semi-Finals 27 to 15 last week. Now play Notre Dame (defending Golden Horseshoe champs) in a battle of the undefeated teams in Halton on Monday. Winner plays St. Marguerite d’Youville, Peel champs, in the Golden Horseshoe semi-final game.

10 (14) Notre Dame Pride – Calgary (9-0)

Defeated Jasper Place at Encana Field 34 to 7. Now travel to Lethbridge to play Raymond. Watch for these players: QB Jimmy Underdahl, RB Xavier Savery, LB Tyler Lowes, REC Matt Lamoureux, and linemen Sean McEwen, Josh Sackschewsky, Austin Donaldson, and Dan Lamola.

11 (NR)
Campbell Tartans – Regina (9-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Defeated Sheldon in Regina Intercollegiate Football League Schwann Conference final. Then defeated the Centennial Chargers (Saskatoon champs) in the Saskatchewan finals 14 to 9 on Saturday. Congrats to the Tartans on a championship season.

12 (16) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. – (4-1, 8-1)

Had bye this weekend and now play Carson Graham in the quarterfinals. Subway Bowl chairman Larry Reda has confirmed with The Province that Subway Bowl’s Dec. 4 championship day will be played at Empire Field.

13 (24) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (9-1) – SEASON COMPLETE

Avenged an early season loss and last years finals (52-29 heartbreaker) beating St. Paul’s Crusaders 27 to 17. Congrats to all the Raiders on a championship season.

14 (18) Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (9-0)

Defeated Bev Facey (CFC ‘HM’) 14 to 11 in Tier 1 playdowns this week. Now host Salisbury Sabres from Sherwood Park in the Alberta semi-finals.

15 (19) Notre Dame – Burlington, ON (7-0)

Defeated Nelson 31 to 18 in Halton Semi-Final action last week. Play fellow Halton undefeated Holy Trinity in the Halton finals. Winner plays St. Marguerite d’Youville, Peel champs, in the Golden Horseshoe semi-final game.

16 (17) Γ‰. sec. CurΓ©-Antoine-Labelle les Loups – Laval, QC – (10-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Only two losses of the season were to the CFC #3 Notre Dame Cactus. The last was a heart breaker, leading 13 to 10, les loups could not stop the Cactus on a late drive, losing the Bol D’or 17 to 14.

17 (NR) Kelowna Owls – Kelowna, BC (5-0, 9-1)

Had bye this week and now play the Centennial Centaurs (defending AAA champions) in the quarterfinals. The centaurs rolled to a convincing 53 to 28 victory over the Mount Douglas Rams. Subway Bowl chairman Larry Reda has confirmed with The Province that Subway Bowl’s Dec. 4 championship day will be played at Empire Field.

18 (NR) Salisbury Sabres – Sherwood Park, AB (8-2)

Defeated the Grande Prairie Warriors in Alberta Tier 1 quarter finals. Now play the Harry Ainlay Titans in Edmonton in the semi-finals.

19 (23) Centennial Chargers- Saskatoon (8-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Beat (former CFC #5) Aden Bowman in rematch of 18 to 17 regular season loss in the Saskatoon 4A Finals on Monday. Final score was 22 to 17 . On Saturday lost to the Regina champions Campbell Tartans 14 to 9.

20 (NR) Holy Trinity – Courtice, ON (9-1)

Defeated Donald Wilson in dramatic Durham final 33 to 32. Now play Upper Canada College in the Metro Bowl semi-finals

21 (NR) Catholic Central (CCH) – London (7-1)

They’re back. CCH defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 19 to 7 in London finals. Now play East Elgin (at Elgin) tuesday at 7pm for a chance to play Herman in the Western Bowl semi-finals (confirmed).

22 (NR) Fredericton Black Kats – Fredericton (9-1) – SEASON COMPLETE

Defeated the Bernice MacNaughtan Highlanders 15 to 14 in the New Brunswick 12-man championship final. Scored on a single point punt rouge with less than a minute remaining…their only lead of the game. Wow. Congrats to the Black Kats on the provincial championship…they are back! πŸ™‚

23 (15) Sir Allan MacNabb Lions – Hamilton, ON (9-1)– SEASON COMPLETE

Lost to CFC #5 Lakeshore in SOSSA finals 20 to 3.

24 (NR) Upper Canada College Blues – Toronto (7-1)

Defeated previous CFC #6 SAC Saints 40 to 34 in overtime. A handful of Blues will not be eligible due to OFSAA transfer rules being different then their own league (SAC would have been in a similar situation). Play Durham champ Holy Trinity in Metro Bowl semi-finals

25 (NR)
St Thomas More – Hamilton (8-1)

It has been a slug fest in the Hamilton Catholic league. STM beat St. Mary’s in the quarter finals, Bishop Tonnos in the Semi-finals and now face Bishop Ryan in the finals. The winner faces Lakeshore Catholic (CFC #5) in the Golden Horseshoe semi-finals

Aden Bowman Bears – Saskatoon – (9-1) – SEASON COMPLETE
The bears ended their season in disappointing fashion losing in the Saskatoon 4A final to Centennial. After shutting the Chargers down to 37 total yards of offense in the first half, the Chargers responded with some timely and big play receptions.

Manitoba
St. Paul’s Crusaders – Winnipeg (9-1)– SEASON COMPLETE
Lost in Manitoba finals 27 to 17. Congrats to the Crusaders on a great season.

Beat St. Johns in Brant county final. Play Our Lady of Lourdes (guelph) in Western Bowl play downs on tuesday

Nova Scotia
C.P. Allen Cheetahs – Bedford (8-1)
Defeated Northeast Kings 41 to 3 in first round of playoffs. Stephen Crossland ran for 172 yards and three touchdowns
