CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – Week 12 “Is Citadel the best maritime team ever?”


CFCs weekly high school poll for 12-man (11-man in BC) football teams across the country from Antigonish, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia.


The poll will include teams from all 8 high school playing provinces (PEI & Newfoundland do not play high school tackle football).

1 (1) Terry Fox Ravens – Port Coquitlam, BC (6-0, 10-0)

Defeated Notre Dame 34 to 7 in quarter final BC action. Scoring for the ravens were QB Cam Canales 1 TD, Jared Soll 2 TDs, Ben Sharpe TD, Tanner White TD. Now face off against Centennial (last years BC champs) in semi-final game. The ravens defeated the centaurs earlier in the year. Game is set for Saturday at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium.

2 (2) Raymond Comets – Raymond, AB (10-0)

Defeated Notre Dame Pride 36 to 14 in Lethbridge on Saturday. Now face off against north region winner Harry Ainlay in Alberta provincial finals. Can the Titans pull off the upset or can Raymond continue their win streak and lay claim to the CFC #1 position? Thats why we play them. Game is saturday 6:00 p.m., Hellard Field at Shouldice Park (Calgary).

3 (3) Collège Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal (11-0) – SEASON COMPLETE

Bol D’or Champs. Undefeated season. Beat defending champs. Scored TD with less than 2 minutes left in the game to win 17 to 14. Intercepted the ball with less then one minute to play to seal the victory. What a great story line. Congrats to everyone with the Cactus. Will now have to wait to see how they move based on others performances. #1 spot is not out of the question.

4 (5) Lakeshore Gators – Port Colborne, ON (11-0)

Defeated St. Thomas More in Golden Horseshoe semi final 30 to 16. Now play Notre Dame in arguable the most competitive Ontario Bowl game of the 5. Game time is 11:45 am at Rogers Center on wednesday.

5 (4) Herman Griffins – Windsor, ON (9-0)

Defeated CCH (London) 19 to 9 at home in Western Bowl semi-finals. Now play head coach Kelly Ireland’s Brantford Assumption team. Game time is 5:15pm at Rogers Center on Wednesday.

6 (6) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (10-0)

Defeated Lockview 44 to 0 in nova scotia semi-finals. Now play SJA in the finals. We expect another victory and CFC would officially crown this team the best maritime high school team of the decade….maybe ever?

7 (7) Vancouver College – Vancouver (6-0, 9-2)

Hammered St. Thomas More 49 to 2 in BC quarter final action. Touchdowns were scored by Lendl Magsipoc, Jesse Cervas, Sean Mayzes, Reiner Thiel, Charlie Thorpe (2), and Adam Konar. Now play WJ Mouat in BC semi-finals. Game is set for Saturday at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium.

8 (14) Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (10-0)

Defeated Salisbury Sabres 30 to 0 in the Alberta semi-finals. Now play juggernaut Raymond Comets for bragging rights in Alberta. Game is Saturday 6:00 p.m., Hellard Field at Shouldice Park (Calgary).

9 (12) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. – (5-1, 9-1)

Defeated Carson Graham 39 to 12 in BC quarter final action. Cam Bedore had 3 touchdowns rushing and threw touchdowns to John Watson and Deion Bain. Luke Friesen has a rushing touchdown. Now face off against Vancouver College in BC semi-finals this weekend. Game is set for Saturday at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium.

10 (11) Campbell Tartans – Regina (9-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Defeated Sheldon in Regina Intercollegiate Football League Schwann Conference final. Then defeated the Centennial Chargers (Saskatoon champs) in the Saskatchewan finals 14 to 9 on Saturday. Congrats to the Tartans on a championship season.

11 (15) Notre Dame – Burlington, ON (9-0)

Defeated Holy Trinity 22 to 9 in the Halton finals and St. Marguerite d’Youville 41 to 7 in the Golden Horseshoe semi-final game. Play Lakeshore Catholic in rematch of last years Golden Horseshoe bowl game which they won, then led by Queens Gael freshmen QB Billy McPhee. Game time is 11:45 am Wednesday at the Rogers Center.

12 (13) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (9-1) – SEASON COMPLETE

Avenged an early season loss and last years finals (52-29 heartbreaker) beating St. Paul’s Crusaders 27 to 17. Congrats to all the Raiders on a championship season.

13 (16) É. sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle les Loups – Laval, QC – (10-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Only two losses of the season were to the CFC #3 Notre Dame Cactus. The last was a heart breaker, leading 13 to 10, les loups could not stop the Cactus on a late drive, losing the Bol D’or 17 to 14.

14 (10) Notre Dame Pride – Calgary (9-1) – SEASON COMPLETE

Lost to the Raymond Comets 36 to 14 in Alberta semi-finals. Could argue they are the second best team in the province. Ainlay will have something to say about that this weekend.

15 (20) Holy Trinity – Courtice, ON (10-1)

Defeated Upper Canada College 25 to 16 in the Metro Bowl semi-finals. Now play King City in Metro Bowl finals on Wednesday 8:00 pm at the Rogers Center.

16 (19) Centennial Chargers- Saskatoon (8-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Beat (former CFC #5) Aden Bowman in rematch of 18 to 17 regular season loss in the Saskatoon 4A Finals on Monday. Final score was 22 to 17 . On Saturday lost to the Regina champions Campbell Tartans 14 to 9.

17 (25) St Thomas More – Hamilton (9-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Defeated Bishop Ryan 24 to 14 in the Hamilton Catholic finals. Then played Lakeshore Catholic in the Golden Horseshoe semi-finals and lost 30 to 16.

18 (22) Fredericton Black Kats – Fredericton (9-1) – SEASON COMPLETE

Defeated the Bernice MacNaughtan Highlanders 15 to 14 in the New Brunswick 12-man championship final. Scored on a single point punt rouge with less than a minute remaining…their only lead of the game. Wow. Congrats to the Black Kats on the provincial championship…they are back!

19 (13) Holy Trinity Titans – Oakville, ON (7-1) – SEASON COMPLETE

Lost to Notre Dame 22 to 9 in Halton Finals. One could argue that Halton is the best High School Football Conference in Canada. Quebec Juvenile AAA may be better because of their structure.

20 (23) Sir Allan MacNabb Lions – Hamilton, ON (9-1) – SEASON COMPLETE

Lost to Lakeshore Catholic in SOSSA finals 20 to 3.

21 (NR) Bev Facey Falcons – Sherwood Park, AB (10-2)– SEASON COMPLETE

Lost to Harry Ainlay in Tier 1 playdowns 14 to 11. Only losses to provincial semi-finalists

22 (21) Catholic Central (CCH) – London (8-2) – SEASON COMPLETE

Beat East Elgin 28 to 7 in Western Bowl playdowns on Tuesday then lost to Herman 19 to 9 in Western Bowl semi-finals on Friday. A victim of too much football in too short a time?

23 (NR) King City – King City, ON (7-2)

Defeated Richview 55 to 23 in Metro Bowl semi-finals. Now play Holy Trinity in Metro Bowl finals at 8:00 pm at the Rogers Center on Wednesday.

24 (NR) Centennial Centaurs – Coquitlam, BC (6-3)

Defeated favoured Kelowna 40 to 13 in quarter final match up. QB Bobby Pospischil had a big game with 115 yds rushing & 2 TDs, and 2 TD passses to Nathan Lund. Centennial are defending AAA champions. They now play CFC #1 Terry Fox Ravens. Should be a great game. Terry Fox won the regular season match up but the Centaurs are improved since that game. Game is set for Saturday at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium.

25 (NR) Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec (8-3)– SEASON COMPLETE

The Blizzard’s only losses were to CFC top 25 teams.

Defeated Barrie’s Bear Creek National Capital bowl playdown semi finals 24 to 0. Now play Sydenham in the finals wednesday at the Rogers Center 2:30 pm

Lost to Fredericton Black Kats in the Ed Skiffington Trophy (New Brunswick provincial 12-man championship) game 15 to 14. The Black Kats scored a TD and 2 point convert with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game

Nova Scotia
Sir John A MacDonald Flames – Upper Tantallon (8-2)
Defeated CP Allen 20 to 7 in nova scotia semi-finals. Now play Citadel. Would be the upset of the season in Canada if they won.

4) All leagues go to grade 12 except for quebec which are grade 10’s and 11’s. Some provinces allow grade 13 players to play and some do not. Some provinces limit the total amount of years you can participate in high school football (i.e. Nova Scotia has 3 year maximum).
5) List is compiled by CFC high school ranking group. We are a group of 12 people from across Canada. 1 in each western province, 1 in atlantic canada, 2 in quebec and 5 from Ontario. We may add more members as the year progresses.
