CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – week 4 – “It’s Alberta’s week to shine: St. Paul’s makes a move”


CFC #1 Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard held on to win 45 to 38 and retain their #1 ranking. This week we will see who is tops in Alberta, and in Sherwood Park, as CFC #2 and CFC #3 Bev Facey Falcons and Salisbury Sabres face one another.

Depending on when scores are reported the ‘Top 25’ is released weekly between Sunday 6pm and Monday 12 noon.

1 (1) SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec (5-0)

Outlasted Academie St. Louis (3-2) in an epic 45 to 38 final score. Visit Γ‰. sec. Jacques-Rousseau this weekend and hope to extend the streak.

2 (2) Bev Facey Falcons – Sherwood Park, AB (4-0)

Defeated Archbishop Jordan this week by a score of 38 to 14. Play Salisbury this week in which will be a game of the week, featuring the top 2 Alberta teams on the CFC top 25 (2 and 3).

3 (4) Salisbury Sabres – Sherwood Park, AB (5-0)

Defeated Bellerose 51 to 14. Sets up a great match up versus Bev Facey (CFC #2) this week.

4 (5) St. Andrew’s Saints – Aurora, ON (2-0, 1-0)

Featured as a CFC β€˜high school game of the week’, it was another epic game between Upper Canada College and St. Andrew’s. The Saints came out on top this time, 24 to 22. Yannick Harou and Jamal Kett continued their strong play, each chipping in with a touchdown. Malcolm Carter had the other Saints TD and Fabian Andark converted all three TD’s and added one field goal.

5 (7) Herman Griffins – Windsor, ON (1-0)

Opened Windsor regular season with a 42 – 0 drubbing of Belle River. Play Sandwich this weekend.

6 (3) Cardinal Newman Cardinals – Stoney Creek, ON (2-0)

Squeaked out a victory over St Thomas More, a possible Hamilton Catholic final preview match up.

7 (9) Nelson Lords – Burlington, ON (2-0, 1-0)

Defeated former CFC #16 Holy Trinity Titans in which may be a preview of the Halton Tier 1 final. The game was played in horrible weather conditions. A big 85 yard punt return by Doug Corby may have been the difference in the game. It was the first time Nelson has defeated the Titans since 2009. Play Thursday versus Loyola who are coming off a victory over TA Blakelock.

8 (6) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (3-0)

Defeated Murdoch Mackay Thursday 40 to 7. Face Sturgeon Heights Huskies Wednesday.

9 (9) CollΓ¨ge Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal (4-1)

Defeated Laval Liberty this weekend 56 to 0. It was their second straight shut out and second straight game scoring over 50 points. Play AcadΓ©mie Saint-Louis who took CFC #1 Blizzard to the wire…should be another great one in Quebec.

10 (10) Vancouver College Fighting Irish – Vancouver (0-0, 2-2)

Rebounded from the loss to STM with a 34 to 0 victory over Salmon Arm. Matt Alviz rushed for 269 yards, just 4 yards shy of the Irish team record. Justin Sanvido and Kristian Abian led the defense with 8 tackles each.

11 (12) Riffel Royals – Regina, SK (3-0)

Handled the undefeated Leboldus Golden Suns 38 to 13. Should keep the streak going against Winston Knoll this week.

12 (23) St Thomas More Knights – Vancouver, BC (0-0, 3-0)

Continue to impress in British Columbia, this time with a 55 to 28 victory over Holy Cross. Justin Siglos had 250 all purpose yards, and QB Mikey Carney continues his strong play. Have a bye this week then face WJ Mouat in first game of league play the following week.

13 (20) St. Paul’s Crusaders – Winnipeg (3-0)

Dominated the Vincent Massey Trojans 45 to 0. Three game scores have been 43-0, 50-0, and 45-0. Un oh, play the 0-3 Kelvin Clippers this week.

14 (12) Catholic Central Crusaders (CCH) – London, ON (1-0, 0-1)

Walked away from game against with Central with a 17 to 0 victory. Play a tough opponent in AB Lucas this Wednesday. Lucas defeated Beal 39 to 0.

15 (13) Lakeshore Gators – Port Colborne, ON (2-0)

Defeated Denis Morris 42 to 0. Coach Rocky DiPietro was happy with the teams execution but said penalties were an issue. Play Notre Dame in Welland this week.

16 (14) Notre Dame – Calgary (3-0)

Defeated St. Mary’s 49 to 21. Play Calgary rival Bishop O’Byrne this week who are coming off a 34 to 3 victory over Henry Wise Wood.

17 (18) Mount Douglas Rams – Victoria, B.C. (0-0, 1-1)

Had a bye this week. Visit Belmont this weekend to end non-conference action.

18 (16) Holy Trinity Titans – Oakville, ON (1-1)

Lost to CFC β€˜top 25’ team Nelson 17 to 7 in a torrential rain storm. An 85 yard punt return by Nelson was the nail in the coffin. Should bounce back this week against TA Blakelock.

19 (17) Mother Teresa – London, ON (1-0, 0-1)

Defeated John Paul II 40 to 1. Play Oakridge this Thursday.

20 (21) Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (4-0)

Continue to impress by beating Bowness 35 to 0. Face Ross Sheppard this week.

21 (19) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (2-0)

Defeated last year’s finalists Sir John A MacDonald 36 to 23 in front of 1002 spectators at Dalhousie University. Held on to a 36 to 7 lead to go to 3-0. A’dre Fraser had a big game with a punt return TD and pass reception TD. Play Halifax West who are coming off a 89 to 0 victory.

22 (22) Aden Bowman Bears – Saskatoon (2-0)

Defeated Tommy Douglas 14 to 9. Play P.A. Carlton Crusaders this Friday.

23 (24) Externat St-Jean-Eudes Condors – Quebec City (3-1)

Defeated Γ‰. sec. de l’AmitiΓ© 51 to 6. Play College Jean-Eudes this week.

24 (25) Leo Hayes Lions – Fredericton, NB (3-0)

Defeated Saint John Greyhounds 27 to 12. Play Bernice McNaughton this week in a north south match up. Potential game of the week.

25 (HM) St. Mark’s – Ottawa (1-0, 1-0)

Defeated last year’s Tier 2 runner up Franco Cite 22 to 6. Play St. Matthew this Friday in the four-team tier 1 Ottawa league…yes Ottawa only has 4 ‘tier 1’ teams.
