CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – Week 4- “Riffel, St. Andrew’s & MacNaughtan enter top 25”


CFCs weekly high school poll for 12-man (11-man in BC) football teams across the country from Antigonish, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia.

The poll will include teams from all 8 high school playing provinces (PEI & Newfoundland do not play high school tackle football).

TOP 25

1 – (NC) Aden Bowman Bears – Saskatoon – (4-0)

Defeated the winless Prince Arthur Carlton by a score of 53 to 0 on friday bringing their season points for and against to 175 to 6. Dylan Defosse had a big game chipping in 104 Yards rushing. Their next game is October 7th versus Prince Albert St Mary.

2 – (NC) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. – (2-0)

Defeated an american team from Omak, Washington 41 to 28. QB Cam Bedore and receivers John Watson, Desmond Bassi scored the touchdowns for the Hawks. Bedore threw 2 and rushed for 4. They start conference play this weekend.

3 – (NC) É. sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle les Loups – Laval, QC – (5-0)

Les Loups (wolves) kept their winning ways this weekend with a 51 to 3 victory over É. sec. Pointe-Lévy. The wolves had tremendous efforts turned in from running back Eric Kelly, defensive standout Maxim Lachaine and linemen Adrian Marcogliese. It is a battle of undefeated teams this weekend when the wolves travel to Séminaire Saint-François (CFC 13) to play the blizzard. This will be a game of the week. The wolves won the last time these two teams met.

4- (NC) Herman Griffins – Windsor, ON (2-0)

Shut out St. Anne’s 30 to 0 in opening week and then beat Holy Names (considered by most the 3rd best team in Windsor) handily by a score of 37 to 3. The much anticipated game versus Villanova will have to wait one more week. The griffins face off against essex this friday at windsor stadium.

5 – (NC) Terry Fox Ravens – Port Coquitlam, BC (2-0)

Defeated Kelowna 48 to 27 and got to see how special the Owls Taylor Loffler is on the football field. Jacob Pitko continues to have an outstanding season for the ravens with 17 carries for 155 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Davies caught six balls for 167 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kelowna’s Loffler finished with 326 yards passing and 4 touchdowns on 17 of 34.

6 – (8)
St. Paul’s Crusaders – Winnipeg (3-0)

Defeated Sturgeon Heights 43 to 7 in front of a few thousand homecoming fans. They travel to churchill this weekend.

7- (9) Nelson Lords – Burlington, ON (1-0)

Nelson had a league bye this week but played exhibition game versus St Joan of Arc from Mississauga winning 38 to 7. Scoring for Nelson were Josh Vandeweerd, 2TD, Tanner Philp, 2TD, Jeff Hill, FG and 5C, Ben Megarry, TD. Their next game is September 30th against Bishop Redding.

8 (6) Bev Facey Falcons – Sherwood Park, AB (3-0)

Defeated Bellerose by a score of 29 to 0. Face off against Salisbury this week.

9 (10) Raymond Comets – Raymond, AB (3-0)

Had the bye week. They travel to Lethbridge to play L.C.I. CFC #13 this week.

10 (11) Collège Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal – (5-0)

Defeated Externat St-Jean-Eudes 42 – 31 on the weekend. The cactus lead the junvenile AAA division 1 league with 233 points scored in five games. The offense has been led by Mike-Brian Lusikila, William Dumas, Gabriel Breton, and Alexis Bailey.

11 – (12) Donald A. Wilson Gators – Whitby, ON (1-0)

Defeated Richardson 48 to 0 paced by 4 Omar Williams touchdowns. Wilson plays a big game versus Pickering on September 30th. Has pickering grown their team player numbers in time to be competitive?

12 – (13) Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec – (5-0)

This week the Blizzard defeated É. sec. de l’Amitié 31 – 17. The blizzard continue to have the best defense in quebec with only 44 points against in 5 games. They should have an easy time versus the winless É. sec. Pointe-Lévy this weekend.

13 (14) Lethbridge – Lethbridge, AB (3-0)

Beat winston churchill by a score of 54 to 0. Play in a big game this week versus Raymond.

14 (15) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (3-0)

Jesse Mills passed for four touchdowns and 266 yards to lead the Citadel Phoenix to a 52-13 victory over the Sackville Kingfishers. They play northeast kings this sunday.

15 (16) Notre Dame – Burlington, ON (1-0)

Started league play off with a bang with a 46 to 0 victory over assumption. Travel to MM Robinson on friday.

16 (18) Lakeshore – Niagara, ON (2-0)

Defeated a strong ST. Michael team 39 to 7. Keaton Spratt had 3 touchdowns, an interception and a sack for the Gators. They face notre dame tomorrow.

17 (NC)
Holy Cross Crusaders – Saskatoon (3-0)

The Holy Cross Crusaders improved to 3-0 after defeating the Bethlehem Stars 37-0 Friday night in 4A high school football action. The Crusaders were led on offence by Jordan Spooner who carried the ball four times for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
The Crusaders’ defence held the Stars to just one first down and only 38 yards total offence.


18 (19) Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (2-0)

Won big over ross shephard 25 to 0. Junior QB Kyle Peterson played very well in the game and continues to show improvement through the year.

19 (NR) St. Andrew’s – Aurora (2-0)

Defeated St. Michael’s 56 to 14 (Casey Cook, 3TD, David Head, 2TD, Yannick Harou, 2TD, Josh Smith, TD, David Head, 8C).

20 (NR) Riffel – (3-0) Regina

Beat previously undefeated Campbell (CFC ‘HM’) by a score of 31 to 14 an enter the CFC ‘top 25’ for the first time this year. Big game versus LeBoldus this weekend who have seemed to have found their mojo. Should be a game of the week.

21 (23) Resurrection – Kitchener, ON (1-0)

Defeated Elmira 28 to 7 paced by Jason Chris’ 2 touchdowns.

22 (24) Vancouver College – Vancouver (2-0)

Defeated New Westminister by a score of 43 to 0. The fighting irish had only 147 yards of offense but capitalized on the Hyacks turnovers. The defense intercepted 4 passes returning 3 of them for touchdowns. Daniel Laventure, Adam Konar and Tyler Rossi were the three defenders who scored touchdowns. Christian Covington has been outstanding for the irish on both sides of the line.

23- (7) Kelowna Owls – Kelowna, BC (1-1)

Lost to Terry Fox by a score of 48 to 27. Five first half turnovers really hurt the Owls who did get back on track in the second half. Boise State commit Taylor Loffler has a great game throwing for 4 touchdowns on 326 passing yards.

24 (NR) Bernice MacNaughtan – Moncton (2-0)

Continued their winning ways by shutting out last years provincial champions, the moncton purple knights, 33 to 0. The defense contained Moncton star running back Marc McDougall all game. Morgan MacIsaac caught 2 touchdowns from QB Kyle McConnell. McNaughtan plays Harrison Trimble this friday.

25 – (NC) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (3-0)

Defeated River East by a score of 56 to 10. Play Sisler AAA on friday.

Defeated previous CFC ‘HM’ Markham in a rematch of last years york region final 29 to 0. QB Troy McCusker was solid in that game scoring one TD with his legs and 2 threw the air.

Defeated St. Patrick’s, new team to tier one football in ottawa 17 to 6.
Crestwood – Peterborough (1-0)
Defeated St. Peter’s 44 to 6. Mackenzie Clarkson had 2 TDs.
Cameron Heights – Kitchener (1-0)
Beat waterloo 42 to 17. Tyler Varga scored 20 points.
Mother Teresa – London (1-0)

St. Marcellinus – Mississauga (1-0)
Defeated St. Augustine 37 to 25. Horace Finnikin had 2 TDs.

Beat Waterdown 38 to 6 in week one and defeated delta 33 to 6.

É. sec. de l’Amitié Aigles (Amitié) – L’assumption (3-2)
Lost to undefeated É. sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle 35 to 30 on one week ago and lost to the Séminaire Saint-François this week by a score of 31 to 17. They were the first team to score double digits against Saint-Francois.

Cobequid – Truro (3-0)
Defeated Central Kings 34 to 14. Running back Jordan Lauther’s workhorse effort saw him score a pair of majors on 31 carries for 306 yards.

3) We encourage your participation, feedback, and criticism.
4) All leagues go to grade 12 except for quebec which are grade 10’s and 11’s. Some provinces allow grade 13 players to play and some do not. Some provinces limit the total amount of years you can participate in high school football (i.e. Nova Scotia has 3 year maximum).
5) List is compiled by CFC high school ranking group. We are a group of 12 people from across Canada. 1 in each western province, 1 in atlantic canada, 2 in quebec and 5 from Ontario. We may add more members as the year progresses.
