CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – Week 5 – “New #1: Raymond, Lakeshore & Chaminade make a move”


CFCs weekly high school poll for 12-man (11-man in BC) football teams across the country from Antigonish, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia.

The poll will include teams from all 8 high school playing provinces (PEI & Newfoundland do not play high school tackle football).

1 – (3) É. sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle les Loups – Laval, QC – (6-0)

Les Loups (wolves) won the battle of the undefeated teams by edging the blizzard 27 to 18. They should be battle tested when they host the only other undefeated team in quebec juvenile AAA the CFC #10 Collège Notre-Dame Cactus from Montreal. If you are in Laval on Saturday get to Parc Roi-du-Nord at 1:30 for the kick off.

2 – (1) Aden Bowman Bears – Saskatoon – (4-0)

AB had the bye this week. Face off against Prince Albert St. Mary’s (2-2) thursday at Griffith Stadium. The last two weeks are against other undefeated teams centennial chargers and holy cross crusaders.

3 – (2) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. – (4-0)

Defeated a second american team in a row. This time it was Bonita Vista from California by a score of 35 to 14. The defense returned 2 interceptions for touchdowns. Daniel Markin and Tanner Hamade were the hawks who had the pick 6’s. Cam Bedore had another big passing game with over 250 yards.

4- (NC) Herman Griffins – Windsor, ON (3-0)

So far in 3 games the griffins have 101 points for and 3 points against. This week defeated Essex 34 to 0. What could be a windsor final preview, and for sure a game of the week, the Griffins play Villanova at Herman high school on friday.

(9) Raymond Comets – Raymond, AB (4-0)

Raymond beat L.C.I. (previous CFC #13) 61-0 and move up in the standings because of the blowout win (next vs. Grande Prairie).

6 – (5) Terry Fox Ravens – Port Coquitlam, BC (2-0)

Did not play this weekend.

7- (NC) Nelson Lords – Burlington, ON (2-0)

Defeated bishop reding 48 to 0. Will Finch, David Shuta, Josh Vandeweerd, Brad Taylor, Blake Culver and Tanner Philp all scored TDs. Jeff Hill had a field goal and 6 converts. Travel to Georgetown on wednesday.

8 (16) Lakeshore – Niagara, ON (4-0)

Defeated Notre Dame on 45 to 14 on September 24 the hammered A.N. Myer 65-0 on Saturday. Coach DiPietro’s team continue to dominate the niagara region.

9 (8) Bev Facey Falcons – Sherwood Park, AB (6-0)

Bev Facey beat Salisbury 43-7 (next vs. Austin O’Brien).


10 (NC) Collège Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal – (6-0)

Defeated É. sec. Jacques-Rousseau 44 to 21 to maintain their undefeated record. Another epic Quebec Juvenile AAA battle this weekend when the undefeated Cactus visit CFC #1 É. sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle les Loups down the road in Laval.

11 (14) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (4-0)

Hammered northeast kings 54 to 0. The Phoenix will face the 3-0 Cobequid Cougars this saturday in Truro. This could be a nova scotia championship preview.

12 (6) St. Paul’s Crusaders – Winnipeg (4-0)

Defeated previously undefeated Churchill 23 to 17. Face Vincent Massey this week which will be a tune up match for the week after match up versus fellow undefeated team Oak Park.

13 (19) St. Andrew’s – Aurora (3-0)

Defeated previously undefeated Upper Canada College 31 to 14.

Holy Cross Crusaders – Saskatoon (3-0)

Defeated Walter Murray (1-4) 36 to 3. Big game this thursday against Centennial in battle of 4 and 0 teams.

15 (22) Vancouver College – Vancouver (3-0)

Defeated Earl Marriot 43 to 6. Sean Mayzes had another huge game with 2 touchdown receptions and one pick 6. Justin Sanuida scored a receiving TD, Lendl Magsipoc scored a rushing TD, and Christian Covington scored another pick 6.

Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (3-0)

Edmonton beat Jasper Place 21-7 (next week BYE).

17 (NR) Chaminade – Toronto (1-0)

Defeated rival Don Bosco at homecoming 44 to 22. Star receiver Tevaun Smith had 3 TDs.

18 (24) Bernice MacNaughtan – Moncton (3-0)

Starting to separate themselves from the pack. Defeated Harrison Trimble by a score of 58 to 7. They have a for and against of 81 to 12 in their first three victories. They have the bye this weekend.

19 (NR) St. Thomas More – Hamilton (3-0)

Defeated Cathedral 28 to 7. Won first 2 games 42 to 7 and 38 to 21.

20 (25) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (4-0)

Defeated Sisler (1-2-1) 20 to 7. Play Kelvin on thursday. Like St. Paul, must not look ahead to the huge match up on October 15th.

21 (23) Kelowna Owls – Kelowna, BC (3-1)

Guest what. Taylor Loffler dominated another game, and may be the top player in Canadian high school football (with all due respect to Tyler Varga). Loffler (who plays QB) scored 6 rushing touchdowns, one 2 point convert and threw one touchdown in a 49 to 23 victory over New Westminister. Coach Farhan Lalji (and TSN broadcaster extraordinaire) had much praise for the oppositions star player. What Taylor, no interceptions this week? 🙂

22 (11) Donald A. Wilson Gators – Whitby, ON (2-0)

Narrowly defeated pickering 19 to 14. Omar Williams scored 2 TDs and Greg Morris scored 1 TD. Have the bye this week then face St. Mary’s the following thursday in what could be a preview of the Durham final (Holy Trinity may have something to say about that).

22 (21) Resurrection – Kitchener, ON (2-0)

Defeated Bluevale 21 to 12. Scoring for the phoenix were Jason Chris 7, Glorian Ganza 6, Ryan Snider 6, Bruno Lopes 1.

Narrowly defeated MM Robinson 8 to 7. Host TA Blakelock this wednesday.

25 (12) Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard – Saint-Augustin, Quebec – (5-1)

Lost to CFC #1 É. sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle les Loups in an epic battle 27 to 18. The blizzard look to get back in the win column when they host winless É. sec. Pointe-Lévy.
