CFCs “Top 25” High School poll – Week 9 “Bring on the playoffs…playoffs?”


CFCs weekly high school poll for 12-man (11-man in BC) football teams across the country from Antigonish, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia.

The poll will include teams from all 8 high school playing provinces (PEI & Newfoundland do not play high school tackle football).

1 (NC) Raymond Comets – Raymond, AB (7-0)

Had the bye this week. Play Lethbridge collegiate in the ‘Region 1 Tier 1 Championship’. They beat L.C.I. in week 4 by the score of 61 to 0.

2 (NC) Collège Notre-Dame Cactus – Montreal (9-0)

Had the first round playoff bye awarded to the first place finisher in Juvenile AAA Division 1. Host Externat St-Jean-Eudes Condors on Sunday in semi-final play. Played on September 25th defeating them 42 to 31 at the Condors new stadium. Mike-Brian Lusikila opened the scoring in that high scoring affair. The Condors actually lead at half time, and were leading early in the third quarter 30 to 13, when the Cactus mounted the big comeback. QB Richard Hugo spearheaded the comeback.

3 (NC) Herman Griffins – Windsor, ON (6-0)

Defeated Kennedy 50 to 7. The Lumleys, Beau and Austin, (RB & QB) combined for 6 TDs in the defeat. Play Kennedy again in this weeks ‘newman semi-finals’ at Windsor Stadium on friday.

4 (NC) Aden Bowman Bears – Saskatoon – (8-0)

Defeated Prince Albert Carlton 46 to 14 in saskatoon quarter final action. Play Walter Murray in semi-final play wednesday at 5:15 at the Gordie Howe Bowl.

5 (NC) Terry Fox Ravens – Port Coquitlam, BC (4-0, 8-0)

Defeated Centennial 37 to 7. QB Cam Canales threw 3 TDs, rushed for 129 yards and passed for 118 yards. RB Jared Soll scored three TDs. Matt jeffers had an interception for the ravens. Jacob Patko had three tackles and 6 assists. Play CFC #6 W.J. Mouat in one the biggest games to date.

6 (NC) W.J. Mouat Hawks – Abbotsford, B.C. – (4-0, 8-0)

Defeated St. Thomas More 35 to 7. QB Cam Bedore rushed for 2 TDs and passed for 2. Both Brady Churly (7 tackles) and Devin Logan had 100+ rushing games. Daniel Markin had an inteception and linebacker Jake Heathcote had 9 tackles. Play CFC #5 Terry Fox in what should be a great game.

7 (NC) Citadel Phoenix – Halifax (7-0)

Cole Harbour forfeited game and by league rule Citadel wins by a score of 9 to 0. Playoffs begin this week.

8 (NC) St. Andrew’s – Aurora, ON (8-0)

Did not play this week. Open Independent Schools semi-final playoffs versus Villanova College this wednesday. Should be a good test for SAC.

9 (NC) St. Paul’s Crusaders – Winnipeg (8-0)

Beat River East in quarter finals 55 to 0. Play Vincent Massey this thursday at 5:15 at East Side stadium in the semi-finals. Get out the turf shoes.

10 (12) Bev Facey Falcons – Sherwood Park, AB (9-0)

Beat St. Albert this week 46 to 0 after beating them last week 51 to 0. Host Salisbury this week in the ‘Edmonton Metro Carr Conference Championship’ game.

11 (10) Lakeshore Gators – Port Colborne, ON (8-0)

Defeated Sir Winston Churchill 28 to 3 in last game of regular season. Clinched homefield in 8-0 match up against St. Paul’s this thursday. Winner moves on to the Ontario bowl series and the loser goes into the Niagara region play downs.

12 (13) Chaminade – Toronto (6-0)

Defeated Don Boscoe in the West Region Toronto final 28 to 6. Tevaun Smith had 3 touchdowns and Marcus Grandison had one touchdown and was all over the field on defense. They Play Richview this friday at Esther Shriner stadium in the Toronto district semi-finals.

13 (15) Huron Heights Warriors- Newmarket, ON (6-0)

Defeated St. Joan of Arc 52 to 0. Troy McKusker is looking like the best QB in metro toronto. Play an improved Brother Andre squad in the York region semi’s this thursday.

14 (NC) É. sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle les Loups – Laval, QC – (9-1)

Hosted Collège Jean-Eude in quarter finals this weekend. Came out of the game with a 31 to 23 point victory. Now play the CFC ‘HM’ Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard in semi-final action. the two teams battled on October 1st, with Les Loups coming out on top 27 to 18. Should be a great one.

15 (11) Resurrection Phoenix- Kitchener, ON (6-0)

Defeated 0 and 5 southwood 49 to 34. The offense played like a CFC ‘top 25’ squad but the defense did not. Round out regular season schedule versus Waterloo collegiate. Just too bad this team is not allowed to play in the Western Bowl play downs because they would have been a contender and it will hurt their CFC ‘top 25’ ranking. Come on Waterloo county coaches and administrators.

16 (17) Vancouver College – Vancouver (4-0, 7-2)

Defeated travled to Cheney, Washington and came away with a 27 to 20 victory. Sean Mayzes had a pick six and QB Jeff Tichelman and receiver Reiner Theil hooked up for two long touchdowns. Close out regular season on friday against Notre Dame in the annual Archbishop’s trophy game, this time at Empire Fields.

17 (16) Harry Ainlay Titans – Edmonton (7-0)

Defeated Ross Shepard this week 30 to 0. Play Jasper Park in the ‘Edmonton Public Bright Conference Championship’ game this week. QB Kyle Peterson will be looked for to continue his strong play for the Titans. Aundrey Webster will get lots of touches in this one.

(NC) Holy Trinity Titans – Oakville, ON (6-0)

Defeated Bishop Reding 31 to 0 in final regular season game. Scoring were Ashton Rochester, 2TD, Declan Cross, TD, Kadeem Walker, TD, Sebastian Lamas, FG, Chris Ianuzzi, 4C. Host MM Robinson in semi-final Halton region action this friday at 2:00 pm.

19 (NC) Notre Dame Pride – Calgary (6-0)

Had the bye this week. Play Henry Wise Wood in Calgary semi-finals.

20 (NC) Sir Allan MacNabb Lions – Hamilton, ON (8-0)

Defeated Waterdown 23 to 7 in Hamilton Public semi-final action friday evening at Ivor Wynne. QB Chuck Wall continued his strong play for the Lions. Play Orchard Park this week in Hamilton public finals.

21 (NR) Holy Trinity – Courtice (7-0)

Defeated Pickering 29 to 0. Ryan Dus scored 2 TDs, and Earl Anderson and Nathaniel Allen chipped in with one each. Huge game versus fellow undefeated, and CFC #25, wilson this tuesday at wilson.

22 (NC) Bernice MacNaughtan Highlanders- Moncton, NB (7-0)

Defeated Moncton in quarter-final action 35 to 12. Host Oromocto this weekend in new brunswick semi-final action.

23 (24) Notre Dame – Burlington (6-0)

Defeated Thomas Aquinas in final regular season match up. Host Nelson CFC ‘HM’ in Halton region semi-finals this friday at 2pm.

24 (25) Oak Park Raiders – Winnipeg (7-1)

Defeated Kelvin 45 to 0 in quarterfinal play. Play Churchill thursday at 7:30 at East side stadium in semi-final action.

25 (21) Donald A. Wilson Gators – Whitby, ON (5-0, 6-1)

Defeated Ajax 21 to 0. Greg Morris had 2 TDs and Omar Williams had one. Holy Trinity (this weeks opponent) defeated ajax the week before by a score of 55 to 3. The two undefeated teams face off this tuesday at Wilson. Should be a great one.
