CFL: 102 Grey Cup Playoff Scenarios (Week 19)

TORONTO – Entering the last two weeks of the season, the final standings for the 102nd Grey Cup Playoffs have not yet been determined. 

While four of the six playoff berths have been decided, only one position has been clinched – first place in the West Division – by the Calgary Stampeders.  

There will be a guaranteed crossover from the West to the East Division, but the identity of that crossover team has not been set.

West Division Edmonton Win = Edmonton clinches second place in West Division BC Win = BC clinches spot in Western Division Semifinal

 

In the West Division, four playoff berths have been clinched, but the standings have not yet been decided.

Edmonton and BC still have an opportunity to host the Western Semifinal, making for an immense game and a possible playoff preview when the two meet this weekend in Edmonton on Saturday, November 1 at 7 p.m. ET.

With a win, Edmonton will clinch second place in the West Division.

A BC victory will ensure that Saskatchewan crosses over for an Eastern Semifinal matchup.

East Division Montreal Win = Montreal clinches playoff berth Montreal Win + Hamilton Loss = Montreal clinches first place in East Division Toronto Win + Hamilton Loss = Toronto clinches playoff berth

 

In the East Division, Hamilton, Montreal and Toronto are all vying for two playoff spots.

On Sunday, the Argonauts and Alouettes meet at Noon ET in Montreal in a game that will have huge playoff implications.

A Montreal win combined with a Hamilton loss on Friday night will result in the Alouettes clinching first place in the East.

If Toronto wins, the only scenario that would prevent them from qualifying for the playoffs would be a tie between the Alouettes and Tiger-Cats in Week 20.

If both Hamilton and Toronto win this week, the two teams and Montreal will be involved in a three-way tie atop the East Division with each owning an 8-9 record heading into the final week of the season.

Additionally, two wins from Ottawa to end the season, coupled with victories from both Hamilton and Torontoover Montreal, will again result in a three-way tie in the East Division with each holding an 8-10 record.

In the event of a three-way tie among Hamilton, Montreal and Toronto, final standings will be determined by winning percentage amongst the three teams.
