Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was named the Offensive Player of the Week for Week 12. Cornish caught four passes for 35 yards and scored his second touchdown of the game from 25 yards out – that major ended up being the game-winning score.

This is the third consecutive game in which the former Kansas Jayhawk has recorded at least 100 rushing yards. He has totaled 446 yards and three touchdowns over that span.

This is Cornish’s second Offensive Player of the Week award this season. The New Westminster, B.C. native’s recent play has garnered him three straight Canadian Player of the Week honours.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Taylor Reed was named the Defensive Player of the Week for Week 12. Reed accumulated seven tackles, including a sack, a tackle-for-a-loss and a special teams tackle as the Ticats came away with a 28-3 verdict. Hamilton improved to 2-0 at Tim Horton’s field as the home side snapped the Riders’ seven-game winning streak.

The former Southern Methodist University Mustang brought down Riders quarterback Tino Suneri late in the opening quarter on second down; the sack resulted in an eight-yard loss and forced the Riders to punt.Ā

Reed also tackled running back Anthony Allen for a two-yard loss.Ā

The native of Beaumont, Texas has racked up 32 tackles, five sacks and an interception in his first season in the CFL.

Coincidentally, the last time the Riders were limited to only three points in a game was in Week 3 of the 2011 season while playing in Hamilton.

This is the first Player of the Week honour in Reed’s career.
