Chahine named Junior National Team Offensive Line Coach

Football Canada is proud to announce the addition of Samir Chahine as 2014 Junior National Team offensive line coach. Chahine replaces Chris Bertoia who is unable to participate at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) U-19 World Championship, July 5-17 in Kuwait.

Chahine brings a wealth of experience to the national team. He currently serves as Villanova College’s (King City, ON) Varsity team’s offensive line coach in addition to the school’s Junior Varsity head coach and offensive coordinator. Upon retiring from an 8-year CFL playing career, in 2006 he joined the Bergamo Lions of the Italian Football League as offensive line coach. In 2008, he rejoined Bergamo as the Lions’ head coach and offensive coordinator. Chahine has also coached at the CIS level with the University of Toronto in 2009.

A three-time all-Canadian during his playing days at McGill, Chahine was drafted 11th overall in the 1998 CFL draft by the Edmonton Eskimos.

Lanctôt added to Team Canada

Pierre-Karl Lanctôt (CEGEP St-Jean-sur-Richelieu / Montréal, QC) has been added to Canada’s 2014 national team, replacing fellow offensive linemen Frédérik-Xavier Duhamel.
