Changes within the CEGEP Divisions for the 2016 season

The RSEQ evaluation committee held a meeting on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 to review the all of the CEGEP teams, but mainly to decide the promotion and relegation of the teams in the three existing divisions in football. The committee met all college institutions interested in the process.

Note that before the meetings, Édouard-Montpetit Lynx asked to join Division 2 and Drummondville Voltigeurs asked to join the Division 3.

Following themeetings, the committee came to the following conclusions:

Division 1 will welcome a new team during the 2016 season, the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu Geants. Recall that the Giants won the last two Bol d’Or Championships in Division 2. Division 1 will thus be comprised of ten teams in the 2016 season.

Division 2 will always be made up of ten teams since Thetford Mines Filons and Outaouais Griffons were promoted from Division 3 to Division 2 for the 2016 season.

Additionally, both the Victoriaville, Vulkins and Drummondville Voltigeurs will move from Division 2 to Division 3.
Therefore, Division 3 will house twelve teams in 2016.

A total of 32 teams in CEGEP will be participating in one of three divisions of the football league during the 2016 season.

The official CEGEP football schedules will be announced in March 2016.
